The National Board Selects Beyerdynamic‘s MCWD – 50 Conferencing System

COLUMBUS, OH, JANUARY 31, 2007 — When The National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors (The National Board) set out to upgrade the AV components within its training facility, the organization desired a conferencing system that would provide flexibility while offering clear sound. The association selected beyerdynamic‘s MCWD – 50 wireless conferencing system for its ease of use, portability and pristine audio quality.

The National Board was created in 1919 to promote greater safety to life and property through uniformity in the construction, installation, repair, maintenance, and inspection of boilers and pressure vessels. Its members oversee adherence to codes involving the construction and repair of boilers and pressure vessels. Throughout the year, the organization hosts in-depth seminars at its headquarters, where important case studies and real-life scenarios are discussed. Because the training is essential to members‘ performing their jobs, the ability of attendees to interact easily with each other and their instructors is essential. The National Board‘s facility houses five training spaces with flexible room layouts to accommodate up to 300 people, posing a challenge for Newcome Electronic Systems, the company overseeing the AV upgrade.

“Typically for this type of install our biggest challenge is achieving desired microphone-to-participant distances for the best audio quality, while maintaining a clean, functional room environment, ease of use, with minimum exposed cabling,” explains David O‘Connor, Advanced Technologies manager for Newcome Electronic Systems. “beyerdynamic‘s MCWD – 50 conferencing system provides optimum flexibility, allowing our customer to place the microphones wherever they need them — no wires required. This creates an environment which promotes better interaction between instructors and students, resulting in a more focused training session.”

In addition to the superior sound reproduction provided by the MCWD – 50‘s conferencing stations, the portable nature of the system permits the staff to move it to the nearby administrative headquarters for board meetings and planning sessions. The system can also be packed and shipped for use at regional meetings throughout the country, using custom shipping cases provided by Newcome Electronic Systems

Utilized in conjunction with the MCWD – 50 conferencing system, beyerdynamic‘s StenOS conferencing software package has been instrumental in keeping accurate records of the proceedings at the National Board‘s regional and national meetings. Controlled through a PC integrated into the conferencing system, StenOS captures voice recordings of all meeting participants, provides notes to accompany the recordings, and stores electronic copies of the handouts in one centralized location.
