TBN Taps TV Magic for On-Site Engineering and Support

TV Magic‘s SSG Division Provides Economical Engineering Services Backed by Facility-Specific Expertise

SAN DIEGO — March 26, 2007 – Broadcast systems integrator TV Magic today announced that its new Support Services Group (SSG) has completed its first year of providing engineering services for Trinity Broadcast Network (TBN), the world’s largest Christian television network. The TV Magic SSG engineers work full time, on site, at the TBN network operations facility in Tustin, Calif. The engineers support the new state-of-the-art facilities, offering quality engineering services along with the knowledge and experience to address any issues or concerns proactively and thus protect the integrity of TBN‘s on-air product.

“TV Magic played a critical role in the development of our network operations facility, from design through acceptance,” said Ben Miller, vice president of engineering at TBN. “We‘re pleased to have its operation in the care of TV Magic and to take advantage of the company‘s first-rate support and engineering services. Our partnership with TV Magic has been a true success so far, and we look forward to continuing these positive results working with the SSG team at our facility.”

TBN‘s network operations facility includes master control operations for 10 TBN channels. These include the original TBN channel that is distributed around the world via more than 50 satellites, and KTBN, TBN‘s Los Angeles television station. The facility also houses multiple SD production studios. Additionally, the TV Magic engineers are responsible for maintaining and providing engineering support at TBN‘s new HD production studio in Costa Mesa, Calif. The on-site TV Magic engineering and operations staff bring unique expertise to this work. Many of the same staff members were involved in the construction of the Tustin facility, with the creation of TBN‘s new HD production studios, and with setting up station automation for all the network‘s owned and operated affiliate stations. The SSG team thus is equipped to identify and solve problems quickly both at the station level and across the network as a whole.

SSG is a new TV Magic division, headed by Jim Magee, and is dedicated to providing the broadcast community with one-call access to maintenance and engineering labor services. The SSG has an on-call, 24-hour call center at TV Magic‘s San Diego offices. This complements the company‘s engineering, design, and installation services by providing continuous phone support, system monitoring, and provision of engineers for on-site maintenance and/or operations as required. Steven Schwartz heads the members of the SSG team at TBN in Tustin.
