PA PLUS DELIVERS FAMOUS SOUND WITH
NORTHRIDGE, CALIFORNIA, April 2, 2007 — Reinforcing JBL Professional VERTEC® as the world‘s most popular and versatile line array loudspeakers, PA Plus recently provided a VERTEC system for the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame 4th Annual Gala, held at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre‘s John Bassett Theatre. The event aired nationally in Canada on CBC TV on March 5.
The Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame Annual Gala brings together a who‘s who of the Canadian music industry, who assemble to pay their respects to Canada‘s songwriting greats. This year‘s event included the induction of Joni Mitchell into the Hall of Fame and featured performances by James Taylor and Michael Bublé. The audio system for the event included 16 VERTEC VT4889 full-size line array elements and four VT4880 arrayable subwoofers. The system was powered by Crown I-Tech amplifiers with Harman Pro‘s HiQnet System Architect™ software for remote control and monitoring.
PA Plus of Toronto has a successful history of providing live sound at the John Bassett Theatre, taking a time-tested approach to the system design. “We‘re very familiar with the venue so we know what components and arrangements work best in combination with one another,” said Mark Radu, Systems Engineer for PA Plus.
That successful approach relies on the use of VERTEC line arrays. “VERTEC is one of the few line array boxes that does not change its sonic characteristics with varying output levels,” Radu added. “The frequency response of the loudspeakers tends to stay the same across the board.”
According to Radu, the event was a tremendous success. “The system performed flawlessly, and we received very positive feedback from the performers and event producers,” he said.
David Scheirman, Vice President, Tour Sound for JBL Professional, noted that today‘s broadcast events have exceptionally stringent requirements for sound reinforcement service providers. “Being able to provide concert-quality live sound for the in-house audience while also meeting the needs of the television broadcasting crew requires a special combination of gear and equipment,” he noted. “Mark Radu and his team at PA Plus are a good example of how these two audio technical disciplines can be integrated to achieve high-quality results. We‘re pleased that JBL‘s tour sound system products were selected to help in this regard.”
