CRESTRON INTRODUCES NEW TABLETOP TPMC-8T WiFi TOUCHPANEL
ROCKLEIGH, NJ, April 9, 2007 – Crestron introduces its new Isys i/O(tm) TPMC-8T 8.4-inch tabletop touchpanel, featuring an embedded Windows XP Operating System that provides secure onboard PC functionality including 802.11a/b/g wireless capabilities. TPMC-8T is the new fixed tabletop version of the award-winning TPMC-8X WiFi touchpanel, providing a stationary mounting option with wired Ethernet connectivity. The fixed-tilt design features a 37-degree angle, which is ideal for podium, table or counter surface installation in a variety of applications. The SMK-8T is an optional swivel mount accessory to permanently mount the TPMC-8T to a flat surface, while enabling a 330-degree rotation. Cables may be routed through the center of the swivel mechanism for a completely hidden solution.
The TPMC-8T touchpanels operate on an embedded PC platform that enables Web access via Internet Explorer, streaming media using WindowsMedia® Player 10, email, and PC application viewers for MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint®, and Adobe® Acrobat® in a secure environment – all while providing intuitive control of AV distribution, lighting, climate control and security.
Access data and run applications on other computers from the TPMC-8T via Remote Desktop, while onboard NetMeeting® and Skype(tm) applications enable conferencing and voice-over-IP directly from the touchpanel. Built-in Bluetooth enables the use of wireless devices such as a mouse and keyboard, while a USB port is provided to connect wired devices. No external computers are needed.
The 8.4-inch touchscreen displays stunning 16-bit graphics, producing astonishing 3D effects, high-res images, dynamic graphics and text, translucency, animation, and wireless video. The new TPMC-8T features a powerful AMS Geode(tm) processor to deliver blazing fast performance.
In addition to the wide range of streaming video formats supported by its onboard media player applications, the TPMC-8T also features native support for wireless streaming video from a variety of 3rd-party Web cameras and servers using the motion-JPEG format. Whether watching live video from an IP camera or streaming video from the web, the TPMC-8T makes it easy to view video sources right on the touchscreen.
Built-in stereo speakers, dual integrated microphones, and a stereo headphone output provide full audio functionality to complement the TPMC-8T’s touchpanel, video, and computer capabilities. Customized WAV files can be loaded on the touchpanel to add dimension to the touchscreen graphics with personalized sounds, button feedback, and voice prompts.
The built-in biometric fingerprint scanner takes convenience and security to a new level, identifying individual users automatically. With just the touch of a fingertip, each user can be presented with a personalized interface with its own graphics, preferences and access privileges.
