A virtual press conference from Sound & Video Contractor

EduComm 2007 to be Keynoted by David Pogue and Alan Kay

Professional Media Group, producer of the EduComm Conference at InfoComm announced that it has secured two exciting keynote speakers for the EduComm07 Conference, to be held June 19-21, 2007, in Anaheim, Calif. EduComm is the only national technology management conference focused on connecting education with AV and IT technology to enhance the classroom experience.

·David Pogue is the personal-technology columnist for The New York Times and an award-winning tech correspondent for CBS News. He is also one of the world‘s bestselling how-to authors.

·Alan Kay, a personal computing visionary, is responsible for much of how we interact with technology, from the graphical interface and the laptop computer to client servers and P2P networking.

EduComm is co-located with InfoComm, the leading business-to-business marketplace for display, projection, audio, conferencing, lighting and staging, digital signage, Internet streaming and networked presentation and communications systems. EduComm 2007 is being held June 19-21 at the Anaheim Marriott in Anaheim, Calif.

Drawing thousands of high-volume tech buyers from colleges and universities and school districts across the United States, EduComm features sessions and demonstrations by educators and industry experts, networking events, AV and IT exhibitors and the EduComm Pavilion, as well as free entrance to the exhibit hall at the co-located InfoComm AV communications and presentation technologies trade show. For the first time, the conference will include demonstrations of how Web 2.0 software, such as wikis, blogging, RSS and online collaboration tools, are changing education.

“Alan Kay and David Pogue should challenge the EduComm audience to think beyond the borders of current classroom teaching. As leaders in this technology revolution, their expertise aligns perfectly with the conference‘s objectives of helping participants to develop AV and IT integration strategies, make wise purchasing decisions, and manage training and support,” said Tim Goral, editor-in-chief of University Business and co-program chair for EduComm.

“Alan Kay is a giant of a thinker and an amazing presenter. It‘s not every day that you get to meet the man who invented the personal computer. In addition to his high-tech innovations, Dr. Kay‘s career has been dedicated to creating rich learning environments for children. David Pogue‘s presentations are lively, insightful and will cause you to tap your feet. He also happens to be the technology columnist for the New York Times and the publisher of the popular “Missing Manual” book series,” added Gary Stager, senior editor of District Administration and co-program chair. “This year‘s program features leading practitioners who also happen to be dynamic speakers. They will place AV and IT in a context of educational innovation.”

As part of the conference, attendees can also explore the EduComm Pavilion: “Tomorrow‘s Classroom – Today.” This special area of the exhibit floor will provide an in-depth look at the latest technologies from EduComm sponsors, including Anystream Apreso, Dell, Extron Electronics, Sonic Foundry and SMART Technologies.

Rates and Session Topics
The conference‘s sessions fall into the categories of Web 2.0, system integration and learning spaces, technology and construction, professional development, emerging technologies, distance learning and online education, and finally, projectors, whiteboards and other AV products. Early bird registration is now open and is $495 per attendee. After April 27, the registration rate will increase to $545. After June 12, attendees may register onsite for $595. Registration includes free access to the InfoComm exhibit hall. Attendees can register online at the conference web site www.educommconference.com.
