QSC‘S AcousticDesign loudspeakers make a difference at Resurrection Life Church
GRANDVILLE, MI–QSC‘s AcousticDesign loudspeakers were recently specified and installed to provide premium-quality distributed sound reinforcement for several high-traffic areas at Resurrection Life Church, a charismatic house of worship founded here in Western Michigan in 1967. Occupying a campus featuring a 200,000-square-foot building including a 4,200-seat sanctuary surrounded by numerous nursery/youth ministry rooms as well as a chapel, café and bookstore, the church called upon Acoustic Dimensions of Dallas to develop a new audio blueprint for its entire property, with installation and custom engineering services supplied by Holland, Michigan-based Parkway Electric.
One facet of the project has live audio and video feeds of ongoing worship services provided to subsidiary rooms as well as all common areas and the expansive walkways traversing the campus. The sound team agreed that two QSC AcousticDesign models bring several advantages in meeting the specific needs of these applications.
For example, a 40-foot-wide region traversing the entire rear of the sanctuary receives full-range coverage from several AcousticDesign AD-S82 compact, surface-mount loudspeakers. Mounted discretely amidst support structures and architectural elements, the contemporary styling and optional white cabinet finish of these loudspeakers allow them to blend very well into the aesthetics of the space.
Each AD-S82, housed in a ported polystyrene enclosure, includes an eight-inch low-frequency transducer with a heavy-duty double roll cloth surround providing solid output all the way down to 65 Hz. High frequencies are supplied by a one-inch pure titanium dome tweeter coupled with QSC’s proprietary Advanced Directivity rotatable waveguide that insures delivery of accurately focused sound, regardless of mounted orientation.
Further, the AD-S82 is equipped with a custom low-distortion, laminated-core and wide-bandwidth-type transformer for hassle-free 70-volt operation. The company‘s IntelliDock intelligent mounting system combines all the components needed to mount, wire, and position the speaker into a single housing, offering three mounting configurations, including the standard yoke mount option selected for this project.
“The AD-S82 meets every possible need that can be presented in a situation like this one, whether it‘s audio quality, coverage, aesthetics and mounting, or any combination thereof,” explains Gary Zandstra, director of sales and marketing for Parkway Electric. “There aren‘t too many single packages out there that can provide such a comprehensive solution, and this makes our lives as contractors a whole lot easier.”
Numerous QSC AcousticDesign AD-C52ST ceiling loudspeakers (also 70-volt) are dedicated to specific auxiliary rooms on the church campus, such as the nursery. Each AD-C52ST, packaged with backcan, support bracket, tile rails and grille, includes a 5.25-inch low-frequency transducer designed with a low-distortion fiberglass cone. The high-frequency driver is a one-inch titanium dome tweeter with a neodymium magnet structure.
“The AD-C52ST loudspeakers are simple to install, and they offer a sound quality that‘s on par with premium ceiling loudspeakers that aren‘t priced nearly as attractively,” Zandstra says. “Again, the advantage goes to the contractor, providing a great way to exceed client expectations in a budget-friendly way.”
