Harman Pro Debuts HiQnet System Architect V 1.4

Advanced customization and search capabilities make HiQnet™ even more contractor/engineer-friendly;

Registered HiQnet System Architect™ user base nears 7,000 audio professionals in contracting and tour sound.

FRANKFURT, GERMANY, 28 March, 2007 — The Harman Pro Group today debuted HiQnet System Architect™ Version 1.4 at the 2007 Musikmesse and in doing so, ratcheted up the customization and search capabilities of the interface to provide tour sound and contracting professionals with greater versatility, scalability and ease of use.

New additions to HiQnet System Architect v1.4 include Convert Default Panel to Custom Panel – the ability to take a factory-supplied panel and convert it quickly into a panel which can be further tailored to meet the needs of a specific job. New controls available for Custom Control Panel design include a Dynamics Graph, a Rotary Encoder and an Advanced Meter with integrated scale and customizable peak hold functions. Also included is the ability to group controls within the integrated Custom Control Panel designer for the purposes of moving and editing them as a single entity.

System Architect Version 1.4 has also benefited from an increase in performance when simultaneously flashing firmware in hundreds of devices meaning a less-capable laptop can be used to perform firmware updates on larger networks.

In addition, System Architect V1.4 includes an Advanced Search capability that enables contractors and tour sound professionals to quickly sift through the vast array of available parameters when assigning controls to a Custom Control Panel.

An Event Log alert button has also been added – a dynamic feature that allows audio professionals to configure the application to warn of customizable levels of events on the HiQnet network, and to launch the System Architect Event Log directly from the button located directly on the interface.

New devices configurable with version 1.4 include the new Crown CDi 4000 installed sound amplifier, which debuted at NSCA in the United States earlier in March. Also new to the portfolio of HiQnet-enabled devices is the Soundcraft Vi4 digital console – the smaller brother to the Vi6 – together with the CDi 4000 increasing the number of HiQnet-compatible devices to 63.

Commenting on the launch, Rick Kreifeldt, Vice President, Harman Pro Group, System Development & Integration Group (SDIG), noted, “From the genesis of HiQnet, we knew that creating the most comprehensive control and communications protocol would never be enough — that we would also have to design a scalable and versatile interface to open up HiQnet‘s potential to the broadest array of professionals and applications. With the insight and feedback of our contracting and tour sound partners, what started as a blank sheet of paper two and a half years ago, is quickly evolving into powerful interface that puts the design and control into the hands of the audio professional. ”

Underscoring the broad end user acceptance of HiQnet, Kreifeldt also announced that worldwide registration among audio professionals was now close to exceeding 7,000.
