INTELIX RELEASES USB OVER CAT 5 EXTENDER

Middleton, WI- Intelix LLC, U.S. manufacturer of audio/video equipment and software, recently announced the release of the DIGI-USB-F balun kit, which extends a USB signal up to 330 feet over standard structured pair cabling, such as Cat 5 or Cat 6.

“We are extremely excited to introduce the DIGI-USB-F USB extender,” states Cameron Smith, Intelix Sales and Marketing Manager, “The first product in our new DigiCat Series of high-performance baluns, the DIGI-USB-F is perfect for sending USB signals more than 16 feet–the current maximum length of USB cables.”

Prior to the DIGI-USB-F, remote USB devices such as cameras, printers, scanners, keyboards, and mice were limited to only 16 feet via direct USB cables or required expensive secondary network equipment. Using the DIGI-USB-F, remote devices may be connected up to 330 feet via inexpensive Cat 5 cabling at standard speed USB (1.5 Mbps) and up to 100 feet at full speed USB (12 Mbps).

The DIGI-USB-F includes a send balun featuring a type B USB connector, receive balun featuring a type A USB connector, and a five foot USB cable. No external power supplies are required, as the system is powered through the USB connection to the source and destination devices.

To use, simply connect the DIGI-USB-F send balun to your source device, connect standard unshielded twisted pair cabling such as Cat 5 or Cat 5e, and connect the DIGI-USB-F receive balun to the destination device.

Retail price for the DIGI-USB-F is $190.95.

The Intelix DIGI-USB-F is shipping February 1, 2007.

Intelix offers the broadest line of baluns in the professional AV marketplace, including solutions for audio, multiple formats of video, VGA, DVI, HDMI, and PS2. In addition to baluns, Intelix manufactures an extensive line of serial controlled mic/line, matrix, room-combine, and automatic mixers. Complete product information is available from the Intelix web site, www.intelix.com, or by calling 1-866-4-MATMIX.
