Kramer Introduces Two Ultra-Compact Scan Converters

Kramer Electronics is pleased to announce the introduction of the VP-504xl and VP-503xl scan converters. These new scan converters provide high end performance from a very compact design.

The VP-504xl and VP-503xl will scan convert computer graphics video signals with resolutions up to UXGA (1600 x 1200) to either NTSC or PAL signals (selectable via dip switches) in either composite video or s-video (Y/C) formats. Additionally, the VP-504xl will also scan convert HDTV signals with resolutions of 480p, 576p, 720p and 1080i in either the RGB or component video color space (Y, Pb, Pr/YUV).

“These new models represent the next step in the evolution of scan converters offered by Kramer Electronics,” stated Clint Hoffman, vice president of Marketing for Kramer Electronics USA. “As is often the case with new products from Kramer Electronics, we have reduced the size of the product and at the same time increased its performance. The VP-504xl and the VP-503xl are extremely compact and they also deliver superior results.”

The VP-504xl and the VP-503xl each have a convenient button which will automatically adjust the phase, frequency and position of the image so that it will be aligned properly on screen. This button should be used every time the signal source is changed. Through the menu, the computer graphics input signal (Left, Width, Top and Bottom settings) and TV output signal (H center, H width, V center and V height settings) characteristics can be adjusted manually and information about the signal‘s vertical lines and H and V timing can be displayed.

These new models each have a built-in proc amp providing the ability to adjust the contrast, brightness, sharpness and saturation of the image. Both models feature flicker reduction settings, image freeze and zoom functions and image overscan/underscan selection capability. The VP-504xl and the VP-503xl also have LEDs that indicate when the image is frozen or when image overscan is selected.

These new scan converters each have 7 built in test patterns and any of these can be setup to be displayed if no signal is present. Both models also have the ability to save and recall up to 4 “set ups.”

The VP-504xl and VP-503xl are currently in stock and available from Kramer Electronics USA at a list price of $750 and $595 respectively. Complete product information can be found at www.kramerus.com.
