CALYPSO UNVEILS NEW CATV TUNER FOR THE CLASSROOM
Ultra-compact unit provides RS-232 control, onscreen channel feedback and more
HUDSON, WI, May 7, 2007–Calypso’s model CSD-500 CATV tuner brings cable television signals and control to classrooms in a compact, affordable, and easy-to-install package. An ideal replacement or improvement for tuners found in VCRs, the CSD-500 lets CATV content exist side-by-side with web content, DVD input, video, lesson plans, PowerPoint presentations, and virtually anything else normally projected onto a screen or video display.
Built expressly for hidden installation (the device does not need to be visible in order to be used), the CSD-500 facilitates the control of CATV channel selection via just about any handheld, wall-mount or PC-based remote controller. The CSD-500 responds to both IR and serial commands that can be sent directly to the device. Conversely, commands can also be received over a network when used in conjunction with Calypso ION or Pro I/O controllers.
Housing a host of other features making it considerably more than just another CATV tuner, the CSD-500 offers standard broadcast reception (channels 2-69), cable reception (channels 2-125), channel lock-out, RS-232 channel selection feedback, and an onscreen display revealing the current time and channel in use. Additionally outfitted with wired and optical IR control and RCA video out, L/R balanced or unbalanced audio has been thoughtfully provided as well.
Making its debut at this year’s InfoComm in booth #4250, the CSD-500 CATV tuner has a suggested retail price of $199.
