Rapenburg Plaza has supplied the new De Kunstlinie theater in Almere, the Netherlands with a fully-controlled theater stage-management system controlled by Medialon Manager. Amsterdam-based Rapenburg Plaza designed and integrated the system into the building, which was finished last December after two-and-a-half years of construction. The architecturally-stunning theater is situated in the city center on the shores of Weerwater lake.
Medialon Manager software is used on four servers to control all of De Kunstlinie‘s technical controls; Medialon was also used to build the GUI of all the theater‘s technical controls.
The biggest challenge for Rapenburg Plaza in this project was dealing with various fiber networks and V-LANs to share the network with lights (ACN), sound (Cobranet), video (Video over LAN) and the Medialon Manager show control.
The show control system is run and controlled by Medialon Manager V4 and controls twelve KISS Box I/O interfaces, two DMX interfaces, four MIDI interfaces, two N-port servers, three UPS systems, an ETC Congo system, an audio system and an e:cue system.
The project takes advantage of Medialon’s Any Protocol capability, allowing the system to adapt to any communication protocol, and IP Control, natively supported by Medialon Manager, a must to integrate Kiss boxes with then new lighting protocol, ACN.
Integrator Rapenburg Plaza (formerly known as Ground Zero) has previously been responsible for show control/stage management systems for the Stadsteater in Göteborg (Sweden), and theaters and operas in The Netherlands and Scandinavia.
Founded in 1992 and based in Europe and in the USA, Medialon designs and distributes software-based control systems for audiovisual equipment and digital media. As a leader in the show-control market, we count among our customers the largest museums in the world (Centre Pompidou, Vulcania, Metropolitan Museum of Art), prestigious theme parks (Futuroscope, Asterix, large US parks) and famous entertainment venues (Lido, Wynn Las Vegas, Apollo Theater NYC).
Manager software allows users to program and synchronize an unlimited number of devices (audio, video, lighting, image processors, special effects, etc). Its programming environment enables the easiest creation of scenarios, from the simplest to the most complex. Designed to be used in networks, it controls the latest-generation equipment over TCP IP. With more than 1000 licenses used daily in the world, it is now the industry standard.
Medialon‘s MIP is a multimedia hardware player which plays any type of digital media: Flash, Mpg, Divx, PPT, JPEG, HTML, URL, etc… with an integrated playlist programming and planning tool. MIP is used for the playback of media, interactive kiosks and digital signage in state-of-the-art museums such as the Musée du Quai Branly in Paris.
