NSCA TO RELEASE INDUSTRY COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS REPORT

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA, August 10, 2007 – The numbers are in. And the news is good for National Systems Contractors Association members. Every two years, NSCA polls industry professionals regarding company background, staffing, certification, employment benefits and compensation. Confidential surveys are mailed to industry contractors/integrators in North America. The results are printed in the Compensation and Benefits Report, scheduled to be released on September 15.

“For companies to thrive, they must remain competitive in the industry,” said Senior Director of Member Services Jodi Montgomery. “This is an effective tool to help companies with their employee recruitment and retention efforts by ensuring that the benefits package they offer is both appealing and aligned with other companies in the industry.”

Small, medium and large companies in 36 states responded. In certain areas, they reported large gaps. For example, company size (as measured by gross sales) was $637,500 or less for one in 10 respondents. However, one in 10 others reported grosses of $18 million or more.

Following are some fast facts summarized in the report:

• Most companies earn between $1 and $3 million per year.
• Overall, companies expect to boost revenues by 16.7 percent for 2007. Smaller companies had the most optimistic predictions, expecting to grow their businesses by 29.2 percent.
• The average company has 13 full-time employees.
• A majority of businesses (53.8 percent) plan to increase their staff in 2007.
• Companies support certification. Some (39.2 percent) mandate it, while 35.4 percent encourage certification.
• Technical staff are most likely to receive raises; sales staff are least likely to receive raises.
• Ten percent of owners report salaries of $46,190 or less per year; while the upper 10 percent of owners report annual salaries of $300,000 or more.
