PROJECTIONDESIGN DEBUTS FIRST 3-CHIP 1080P DLP® PROJECTOR FOR HOME CINEMA AT CEDIA EXPO

RIDGEFIELD, NJ (August 28, 2007) – projectiondesign will show its first ever 3-chip High Definition DLP home cinema projector, the new Action! M80 1080p, at CEDIA EXPO 2007 in Denver. Based on the company‘s professional Cineo 80 eCinema projector, the Action! M80 is packed with technological advances and breaks new ground in reproducing visual perfection for the home.

“The new M80 1080 is an incredible home theater projector. Its brightness, superior technological attributes and new color filter imaging, produce a picture like nothing I have ever seen before,” says Gary Plavin, projectiondesign LLC president.

The new model comes with a native resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels (full 1080p HDTV), high-quality 10-bit video processing and HDMI 1.3 and DV-I digital compatibility. It has unprecedented brightness – up to 8000 ANSI lumens – and a contrast ratio of up to 10,000:1, using Texas Instruments® DynamicBlack™ technology to monitor incoming video content. This feature dynamically adjusts the contrast ratio to optimize picture quality for each video frame.

Thanks to Optical Color Filter Processing, users have an incredible range of control to within which to adjust the image to suit their needs or preferences. It is a ground-breaking imaging solution for the most demanding requirements, since the color gamut can be optically adjusted: “Lossless calibration” means users maintain precious dynamics and bit-depth with unprecedented contrast and resolution.

The Action! M80 1080 includes high-performance optics. Optimum image quality and installation flexibility are ensured with a choice of up to five tool-free user replacement lenses, covering 0.75 – 4:00:1. A custom-designed anamorphic lens conversion attachment is available for 2.35:1 anamorphic projection. Optics can be shifted both vertically and horizontally, delivering total freedom in placement of the projector and can be easily replaced.

The new projector uses Texas Instruments 0.95” 1080p DMD™ x 3 technology for the best possible image quality. Simple set-up routines and calibration are assured with proprietary projectiondesign RealColor technology. This perfectly tracks gray scale throughout the dynamic range, ensures a perfectly rendered image with any given input and results in perfect video color reproduction. The Action! M80 1080p is compatible with most popular home control systems on the market today, including Crestron, AMX and others using IP or RS232 control.

Designed for reliability
As with all projectiondesign projectors, the new M80‘s features are reliable by design. With its patented, proprietary DuArch dual illumination architecture, the long-lasting UMP™ lamps can be replaced while in operation. Sealed Optical Architecture (SOA) prevents dust or smoke from entering the core optics and interfering with the image quality, ensuring a long and trouble-free life.
