A virtual press conference from Sound & Video Contractor

DYNACORD Cobra at Miami Metro Zoo

A recent jazz concert at Miami Metro Zoo bore testimony to the multi-genre versatility of the DYNACORD Cobra compact line array system, a mainstay of Miami production company Drummer Boy Sound, who deployed Cobra–along with a full compliment of EV monitors and mics, Klark Teknik signal processing and Midas mixing consoles–for the event, organized by the South Florida Boys Choir, Inc.

The show featured R&B singer Ruby Baker, jazz saxophone sensation Eric Darius and his band, with legendary jazz keyboard player Jeff Lorber as headliner. Drummer Boy Sound provided sound, lights, staging, backline and power.

“We do events like this all the time,” says Harold Cummings of DBS, “and I knew our DYNACORD Cobra line array system would give us the headroom we needed. We brought in a ten-box flown system and put 12 DYNACORD PWH subs down on the ground to round out the low end. The stage spread consisted of EV Zx1 8″ monitors and QRx112 monitors. Front of house and monitors were controlled via Midas Verona 48 channel and Midas Siena 48 channel consoles, ensuring a nice warm mix.

“As soon as the soundchecks started, the musicians were clearly happy with what they heard and saw,” Cummings adds. “Jeff Lorber loved his stereo QRx112 monitor setup, and Eric Darius told us he could hear every noted he played through the six Zx1s across the stage. Each additional band member also had their own QRx112, so stage mixes were no problem. Jeff Lorber also commented on the flown DYNACORD PA and the superb sound it delivered. This is par for the course with this system; whether pop, soul, R&B or jazz, the client and bands always go home extremely happy.”
