Raves For Blue Sky’s EXO Desktop Monitor System

AES Show, New York, NY • Oct 2007 • Booth #700 (Audio Agent/NEVE) — BLUE SKY ‘EXO‘ FULL-RANGE DESKTOP MONITOR SYSTEM GETS RAVES FROM VETERAN DJ, COMPUTER AND GAMING PROFESSIONALS: DJ Muggs, Mac Columnist, Electronic Arts & ESPN Audio Pros All Tout The Merits Of EXO, The Compact System With The Big Sound And Small Sticker Price

More than a set of external speakers for your computer, EXO is a complete, full-range studio monitoring solution in a compact package–complete with desktop remote ‘hub‘, allowing you to simultaneously plug in and monitor an assortment of peripherals such as a DAW, Mixer, MP3 player, etc. Blue Sky has been an innovator of professional studio monitoring systems since early 2001. Blue Sky aficionados include musical artists (Prince/Paisley Park, Black Eyed Peas band, Public Enemy, DJ Muggs), post-production facilities (Lucasfilm Ltd./Skywalker Sound), sports coverage leaders (ESPN), and top gaming makers (Treyarch/Activision, Electronic Arts)–to name but a few.

“While Blue Sky is busy super-sizing monitoring systems for pro use,” says Ron Scalise, Audio Project Manager for ESPN‘s Remote Operations, “they have also managed to bring their same concept of the successful bass management accuracy into their pint-sized EXO system that can be used conveniently for smaller applications. WOW! My desktop workstation and iPod never sounded so good!”

“I am seriously impressed and amazed at how good the EXO system sounds,” says Greg Allen, Electronic Arts Senior Audio Director. “This system blows all other systems away in its price range.”

Producer, Angeles Records CEO, and founder of Hip-Hop super-group Cypress Hill, DJ Muggs, agrees. “I love this little system. I use it in my back room where I have my DJ set-up with a few turntables. It does serious damage for its seriously small size.”

And excerpted from a recent review in the www.ipodobserver.com by author, consultant, and columnist Bob “Dr. Mac” LeVitus,: “I had no complaints whatsoever about this speaker system. It sounds fantastic and I can’t think of another desktop speaker system that can hold a candle to it dollar for dollar. If you’re particular about your audio, don’t mind the price, and have room for a big, 25 pound subwoofer, I’d be surprised if you could find a better speaker system for the money.”

The EXO system consists of an 8” powered subwoofer (which also contains the amplifiers and bass management circuitry for the system), Left & Right 2-way satellite speakers, and an ingenious desktop remote ‘hub‘. One of the more unique features of this hub is that it allows you to simultaneously plug in and monitor an assortment of peripherals via the XLR / TRS, RCA and 3.5 mm mini jack inputs. For example, the user can quickly connect a computer, a MP3 player or a mixer, and monitor all three sources at the same time. In addition, the user can control the gain of the system and dial in the subwoofer level, all without needing to crawl around under a desk.

“EXO really redefines a new level of features and performance for the audio / video professional and hobbyist looking for studio monitors,” says Blue Sky VP, Chris Fichera. “We‘ve taken all of our pro audio R&D expertise, applied and packaged it into a system that delivers a number of unique features, but at the same time delivers the kind of performance synonymous with all Blue Sky studio monitoring systems. With the introduction of this new entry-level system, an even wider group of users will be able to obtain Blue Sky full-range audio performance. EXO embodies Blue Sky‘s continuing commitment to provide the user the highest possible ratio of performance to cost.”
