BEAVERTON, OREGON, October 16, 2007 — Underscoring the contribution of audio video technology and members of the AV community to the advancement of entertainment, education and communication, Mr. Rob Drake, Mayor of Beaverton, Oregon today joined with Beaverton-based Biamp Systems and industry advocacy group, InfoComm, to officially declare October 21-27 as AV Week. A host of companies and organizations from around the world will celebrate AV Week with special events at schools, job fairs and community outreach activities. Founded in 1976, Biamp Systems has become a recognized global leader in networked digital audio technologies for an array of high-profile and mission-critical applications including the Oregon State Capital and Portland Convention Center to name a few. Commenting on the declaration, Biamp Systems Marketing Project Manager, Abbey Masciarotte noted, “With the advent of digital technology, audio and video technology pervades so many aspects of everyday life: from background music in stores and restaurants to paging systems in airports, malls and convention centers, all around the home and increasingly in the form of personal AV. We‘re pleased to partner with the City of Beaverton and InfoComm to raise awareness of the value and sophistication of these technologies and also the contributions made by companies and individuals that comprise the AV community. We‘re equally proud to be an Oregon company and to have our products successfully deployed around the world.”

Echoing this sentiment, Mr. Rob Drake, Mayor of Beaverton added, “I‘m very pleased to declare the week of October 21 as official AV Week and I‘m proud of the contribution of our citizens to the development of audio and video technology. Biamp Systems President Ralph Lockhart and his team have demonstrated that great ideas come to fruition when an innovative culture can be nurtured in a geographic location that allows to people to enjoy balance in their work and recreational lives! Beaverton offers the best of both worlds and it‘s only fitting that we acknowledge this fact with the official designation of AV Week.”
