Harman Pro Group Delivers Processing, Power & Loudspeakers In Klagenfurt, Austria

AMSTERDAM, THE NETHERLANDS, 29 January, 2008 — In an endorsement of the Harman Pro Group‘s determination to provide category-leading components at each node of the audio signal chain to advance the integration, performance and efficiency of systems design, the company today showcased the Eissportzentrum Klagenfurt ice hockey arena in Klagenfurt, Austria that features JBL Professional loudspeakers, Crown power amplifiers, and BSS Soundweb London for processing. The system was designed and installed by Kain Audio in Austria and includes Harman Pro Group components from Crown, JBL Professional and BSS Audio.

The facility, which seats 5500 and is home to the popular hockey team KAC, received 18 PD 5212/64 loudspeakers driven by Crown amplifiers. The system is controlled by two BSS Soundweb London Blu80 units. Blu80 allows easy configuration of the number of inputs and outputs providing the optimum system at the time for the most cost effective approach in choosing I/O configuration. Up to 16 mic/line inputs or line level outputs are contained in a single frame configurable in four banks of four input or output channels. There is also a CobraNet module offering up to 32×32 network channels and massive DSP power in each frame. GPI hardware interfacing is handled by 12 analog control ports and six logic outputs for interfacing faders, pots and switches.

The JBL PD5212/64 loudspeakers feature horn-loaded low frequency and large format high frequency drivers with high sensitivity design and high continuous SPL capability. The patented waveguide system provides precise pattern control, low distortion at high SPL and smooth frequency response. Rotatable high and low frequency waveguides allow either horizontal or vertical cabinet orientation.

Commenting on the installation, Mark Bailey, Harman Pro Group Applications Engineer, noted, “Ice hockey arenas are traditionally fraught with acoustic challenges that test the components and system design. The system supplied via Kain Audio has components from three of our brands, comprehensively addressing each of the challenges and also providing a single source of accountability, low cost of ownership and scalability for future development of the system or the venue!”
