AMSTERDAM, THE NETHERLANDS, 29 January 2008 – In conversation, Steve Martin is a very direct man. He has to be. You can‘t beat around the bush in the Audio/Video installation industry and expect to be successful.
Martin is the Cofounder and Managing Director of Martin-Kleiser Ltd., a 14-employee custom shop that focuses on specialized sound, lighting, and communication system installs for residences and commercial spaces. Martin runs the company with Cofounder and Commercial Director Tony Kleiser. Projects Director Marcus Jackson-Baker leads the design team. Each year the London-based company completes anywhere between 30 and 40 projects of dramatically varying sizes, ranging from around Ł9,700 to over Ł430,000.
Martin has been in the Audio/Visual installation field for over 25 years, 15 of those in custom installation. Additionally, he serves as Vice Chair and Education Chair of CEDIA UK. This is a man who knows his industry and he‘s been using Middle Atlantic Products‘ racks from the very beginning, primarily for home installations.
When asked what he looks for in a rack system, in his direct manner Martin will tell you simply: “a bloody good one.” However, he‘s happy to elaborate:
“Long-term reliability is impossible to guarantee without a good rack system. We wouldn‘t even consider starting a project that didn‘t include a rack, it just wouldn‘t make sense. Martin‘s company began using Middle Atlantic Products‘ solutions even before they were distributed in the UK. His company is often faced with the challenge of fitting a large amount of equipment into small spaces, per his clients‘ requests. The biggest hurdle is heat: all that gear in a confined space runs a high risk of overheating. The threat of meltdown grows each year as newer components feature increased processing power and therefore run hotter.
