VizionWare VZ-S5100 5×1 HDMI Switcher Named Mark of Excellence Finalist

Consumer Electronics Association Recognizes VizionWare Switcher Featuring Five HDMI Inputs and Audio Re-synchronization Capability

AUSTIN, Texas – February 8, 2008 – VizionWare, the Texas-based active interconnect company, has announced that its VZ-S5100 5×1 HDMI Switcher & Digital Audio Synchronizer has been selected as a 2008 TechHome® Mark of Excellence Award finalist in the “Best Distributed Audio/Video Product” category.

“We are thrilled to have the VZ-S5100 considered for such a prominent honor as the TechHome Mark of Excellence Award,” said Ben Jamison, vice president of sales and marketing for VizionWare. “In looking for an elegant, innovative solution to switching between multiple HDMI sources, we developed the VZ-S5100 to combine five-in, one-out HDMI switching with lip-sync correction of digital audio for the ultimate integration flexibility in custom home theater installations.”

Among only the most recent accolades garnered by VizionWare‘s impressive array of digital interconnect technologies, the Mark of Excellence Awards program, presented by CEA‘s TechHome Division, recognizes the best in custom home electronics products, services and installed technology.

One of the VZ-S5100‘s unique functions lies within a generous offering of five user-adjustable HDMI inputs, each of which features programmable lip-sync correction that may be independently associated with its own degree of audio delay from 2 to 198ms in 2ms increments.

The VZ-S5100 is the ideal component to add lip-sync correction to an AV installation. Otherwise, correction must occur at each source device (which rarely have the capability) or in an AV receiver or AV processor, which may not contain a sufficient number of HDMI inputs. Once adjusted by the installer, audio synchronization values are set into each port‘s memory in order to compensate for the amount of video processing (the cause of audio and video being out of “sync”) required by each source.

Designed for maximum-length cable runs on each end of the switcher, the VZ-S5100 delivers 1080p at the longest lengths possible under current technology while maintaining the highest level of signal integrity. Its bi-directional RS232 capability ensures that installers are able to integrate the VZ-S5100 into whole-house, home-theater or commercial AV setups. It may also be controlled via IR, and its robust industrial design featuring rack mounting capability-coupled with the tactile feel of a high-end AV component-makes it right at home in the finest custom systems.

TechHome Mark of Excellence winners will be announced Friday, March 14th at EHX Spring 2008 in Orlando, Fla.
