Comcast Launches DVR with TiVo Service in Boston Area

New Service Provides Integrated Search Across Both Television and On Demand For the First Time

Boston – Jan. 22, 2008 – TV fans in the Greater Boston area now have a new choice for recording their favorite programs with the launch of the Comcast Digital Video Recorder (DVR) with TiVo service. The new service combines TiVo‘s award-winning interface and exclusive features, including WishList searches, TiVo Suggestions and Season Pass recordings,with Comcast‘s comprehensive channel lineup and massive On Demand library – which includes the most high-definition viewing choices on the market – in one box.

TiVo from Comcast is a significant improvement over the TiVo service that has been available to satellite subscribers in the past. And now, through our relationship with Comcast, the TiVo service has never been more affordable or easier to get.”

With the Comcast DVR with TiVo service, consumers can choose the DVR option that best meets their needs. The new service delivers premium recording functionality and comprehensive search capability, which makes it easy for customers to quickly find their favorite shows whether they are on traditional television channels or among the more than 10,000 On Demand programs that are available each month. For customers with high-definition (HD) service, all HD and HD video on demand programming is highlighted throughout the user interface so it‘s simple to find. Plus, users can program the service to automatically record the HD versions of shows. With 1,300 movie titles available each month, Comcast Digital Cable customers already have access to more movies On Demand than they can find anywhere else. Beginning next year, Comcast plans to offer more than 6,000 movies a month, and more than 3,000 of them will be available in HD.

The service also includes TiVo‘s exclusive search, discovery and recording features, including WishList® searches, TiVo Suggestions and Season Pass™ recordings. WishList searches automatically find and record programs that match viewers‘ interests, such as a favorite actor, director or subject; TiVo Suggestions are personalized recommendations that help subscribers discover new shows based on what they already like; and Season Pass recordings ensure that all episodes are automatically recorded every time they‘re on, even if the schedule changes.

The Comcast DVR with TiVo service uses the existing Motorola DVR set-top box provided by Comcast so customers don‘t need to purchase additional equipment. The service is just $2.95 more than standard HD DVR service, and customers who want to subscribe can call Comcast to schedule an installation appointment. Comcast also plans to introduce an option for customers with DVRs to have the TiVo software application downloaded directly to their set-top box.
