A virtual press conference from Sound & Video Contractor

Vicon, the Chosen Surveillance System for the Beijing National Stadium

Vicon Industries Inc., a leading designer and producer of video surveillance systems, has been the chosen video surveillance manufacturer to be installed at the Beijing National Stadium. The opening and closing ceremonies of the 2008 Summer Olympics as well as some of the athletic events will be held at the newly constructed venue expected to be completed in March 2008, will be able to seat approximately 91,000 spectators.

With the 2008 Olympics attracting an extensive number of visitors, Olympic committees and government officials want visitors to feel safe before and during the event and are making sure to cover all bases when it comes to security at the Olympic Games. A big event such as this can be a focus for terrorist attacks. Realizing the importance of spectator safety within the venue, decision-makers are depending on Vicon‘s camera domes and PTZ cameras to monitor the venue. Integrated with Honeywell, several Surveyor domes being installed include the SVFT-W23 day/night model along with Vicon‘s PTZ units, V3400APT. Vicon cameras have proven to be one of the most dependable and admired in many law enforcement agencies, universities, and casinos and will not fall short of expectations at the 2008 Summer Olympics.

“It has been said that the Beijing National Stadium, when completed can be the world‘s largest enclosed space, it is exhilarating that Vicon will be apart of securing this facility” said J.C. Caine, International Sales Manager at Vicon. “Vicon has had its share of ups and downs and this incredible opportunity couldn‘t have come at a better time as we bring our 40th year anniversary to a close and begin a new year.”
