A virtual press conference from Sound & Video Contractor

LAS VEGAS, NV — Auralex has become the go-to manufacturer for acoustical treatments on ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. In each episode, the Makeover team undertakes the monumental task of completely rebuilding a family’s home in a one-week timeframe. NYC dealer Dale Pro Audio consistently recommends Auralex’s state-of-the-art products when acoustical treatments are needed on the show. Auralex recently completed its third episode with Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and the company is currently working on a fourth episode, which has not yet aired. Auralex will be showcasing several of its products at this year’s NAB show in B&H’s booth space (SU2905).

The most recent episode, which aired on February 18, 2008, featured the Hughes Family in Kentucky. Auralex products were specifically installed into Patrick’s room, a young college student at the University of Kentucky in Louisville. Patrick was born with several severe deformities and handicaps, though he is an accomplished trumpet player in the University’s marching band. Auralex Acoustics donated several of its 2? acoustic StudioFoam Pyramids for Patrick’s room, giving him a more controlled sound practicing environment while preventing the sound from traveling throughout the rest of the house.

The second time Auralex appeared on the show was during the rebuilding of a home for the Marrero Family of Camden, New Jersey. Several Auralex acoustical products were installed in the family’s eldest son’s bedroom, including [4] B22 ELiTE ProPanels; [5] T’Fusors, [12] S3CT SonoSuedes; [2] AudioTile 24 packs and [1] AudioTile Corner Turn. An aspiring DJ/musician, the son was driven to pursue his love for music in order to financially assist his single father and do his part in supporting his four younger brothers. The episode originally aired on November 11, 2007.

Auralex was first involved in the show back in 2005 when specialized acoustical treatments were needed for the creation of a vocal recording booth for the Kirkwood family of Seattle, Washington. whose house had been overcome by a hazardous black mold. Several Auralex’s pArtScience AudioTiles were used to absorb echoes and other unwanted sound reflections. While construction began in 2005, the episode originally aired on January 15, 2006.

“To continually be involved with a show like Extreme Makeover: Home Edition is a great opportunity to not only strengthen our visibility with the general public but it gives us a platform to make a significant difference in people’s lives,? says David Paxton, director of operations at Auralex Acoustics. “Each episode provided a unique and unforgettable experience. We look forward to growing our relationship with Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and will continue to donate our products to worthy causes such a this, as our way of helping others in need.?
