A virtual press conference from Sound & Video Contractor

Conference Discussion Microphones

Multipurpose rooms, divisible conference rooms, and off-site locations represent just a small portion of applications where the portability of a conferencing solution can be just as important as how the system actually sounds. Because in these applications the set up time and strike time become a much larger factor due to the simple fact that these events are now occurring at a much larger rate. Simply put, the end users of conference systems need to be able to perform these set ups on their own, quickly and without error, so that their meeting can take place on time; wherever that may be.

Granted, each of the aforementioned applications brings its own set of unique challenges and a conferencing system will have to address them accordingly. For example, a school board may be looking for a conferencing system to be used in the Multipurpose Room. Or a corporate office is looking for a conferencing system to be placed in a large conference room capable of being divided into three smaller conference rooms or a combination of small and medium rooms. These end-users have enough to deal with just rearranging the furniture in the room, let alone trying to reconfigure the components of an entire sound reinforcement system. But the most obvious example of the necessity for portability in a conferencing system is the end-user who will take their conference meeting off-site (or even outside!); moving their entire sound system to a completely different building.

So what is the solution? How can we answer the demands of all of these examples?

The Taiden HCS-3630, a push-to-talk conference and discussion system with a built-in speaker and detachable gooseneck microphone. The system’s main unit handles power, audio, and data distribution, as well as implementing a 4×1 video switcher with command protocols for automatic video tracking. Simply put, the Taiden HCS-3630 is designed to be the complete sound reinforcement system with daisy-chain wiring and durable 6pin DIN connectors, which are better designed to handle the wear and tear of repeated connect and disconnect.

Taiden also lays emphasis on portability by: reducing the size of the delegate stations, coming in at around 6x4x2 inches (not including mic); offering a twenty user carrying case that can handle up to twenty (20) delegate stations with microphones, one (1) main unit (standard rack mountable 2RU), and all the cabling, and still weigh less than 100lbs; finally, add in all of Taiden’s other conferencing features such as multiple operation modes (Request to Speak, FIFO, Voice, and Apply), optional conferencing software (Microphone Management from PC, Digital Audio Recording to .WAV or .MP3, etc), a built in speech timer, and you have a perfect solution for any end-user looking for a system that allows for strong conference management, clear and audible sound reinforcement, and of course portability.

Which in the end, no matter what components are used to design a solution for our end-users, the conferencing system will need to be easy to setup and take down every time. After all, isn’t the point of technology to make our lives a little easier?
