Domes Audio Video Environments Opens State-of-the-Art Design Center

Game RoomVIRGINIA BEACH, Va.-March 27, 2008-The home electronics experts at Domes Audio Video Environments have learned first-hand that today’s consumers want their homes to be well-appointed, fully automated, and completely wired. For this reason, Domes has opened a new design center in Virginia Beach that allows visitors to experience the endless ways they can integrate technology into their homes.

Virginia Beach is the second location for Domes, which has had a retail location in Chesapeake, Va. since 1980.

“This is a concept we’ve had in the works for years, and we’re excited. It’s a great feeling to finally open the doors,” says Lee Whedbee, President of Domes Audio Video Environments. “At the Hilltop design center, we assist our customers in finding solutions to enhance their lifestyle and simplify the way they perform everyday tasks related to lighting, vacuuming, listening to music, and watching their movies.”

The new design center was built as a model home to allow visitors to interact with lifestyle technologies and gather ideas for incorporating automated solutions into their homes. The general public, builders, architects, and designers can walk room by room in the “house” and experience innovations, such as a one-button operation that can dim the living room lights, raise a stunning plasma screen over a fireplace, and make speakers magically appear in the ceiling-all simultaneously.

A walk through the home office greets you with stunning customized cabinetry; a one-button command which activates task lighting to showcase a high-performance McIntosh audio system; and a 50-inch, wall-mounted plasma TV that is networked to become a computer monitor.

The bedroom is captivating, with a 50-inch plasma TV disguised as a mirror on the wall, and lighting scenes that create three unique atmospheres.

The elegantly appointed dining room easily transforms from a room for family gatherings to a room for corporate meetings. Exquisite lighting gives the illusion that the room is glowing, but a simple switch to another lighting scene transforms the dinner party to a business conference, featuring a 50-inch plasma TV ready for a presentation.

It’s a chef’s dream in the kitchen, where multiple lighting scenes create task lighting to prepare the perfect meal or set the scene for the perfect party. A central vacuum system and state-of-the-art appliances make cooking and cleaning a breeze.

Keeping up with your favorite sporting event isn’t a problem with three flat-screen TVs, a 10-foot projection screen, and a 60-inch plasma TV in the showcase’s game room.

Barbequing on the outdoor patio while watching a weatherproof, plasma TV, artfully concealed by stylish planters and infused with surround sound will have you craving breakfast, lunch, and dinner in the outdoor extension of your home.

No design center by Domes would be complete without a state-of-the-art home theater. Outfitted with luxurious, custom-leather theater seating, acoustical wall treatments, and lavish draperies, the theater boasts picture and sound quality that rival most commercial theaters. Even the one-of-a-kind ceiling is an artful masterpiece.

All of the integration in the home is controlled with Crestron remote controls or touch screens, and is complemented by opulent furnishings and meticulous lighting design.

“We hope that this new design center will demonstrate our level of craftsmanship, and inspire clients to use their imagination and take advantage of our talented staff,” says Whedbee.

Domes’s new design center is located at 724 First Colonial Road in Virginia Beach. Domes can also be found on Volvo Parkway in Chesapeake and on the Web at www.DomesAV.com.
