Istanbul Dogus Otomotiv Shows the Future of Auto Dealerships with Meyer Sound
Located in Turkey’s Istanbul, Dogus Otomotiv’s astounding OtoMotion demolishes all conventional notions of a car dealership. Besides featuring a car showroom, this 38,000-square-meter futuristic complex houses an expansive events space where visitors can enjoy live music, films, cocktails, as well as a stylish ambience that is highly unique for a car showroom. To enhance such amenities, OtoMotion has been equipped with a stunning array of AV technologies, including 70 plasma screens, six HD projectors, and pristine audio systems comprising more than 140 Meyer Sound loudspeakers.
Sound design was handled by Can Besbelli as well as Osman Karasen of Istanbul Telesine A.S., which also provided the equipment. The main system in the hall comprises three arrays of M’elodie line array loudspeakers: six each at left and right, and four at the center. Deep bass supplied by a quartet of 600-HP subwoofers, and four MJF-212A high-power stage monitors are available for the live musical presentations.
When no show is running, the room is supplied with subtle yet evocative ambient sound. The independent ambient audio system consists of 52 UPM-1P and UPM-2P loudspeakers, and MM-4 miniature wide-range loudspeakers. According to Firat Akin, project manager for Telesine, the 24 MM-4s used are ideally suited to the task.
“The owners wanted high quality sound that is clear, yet also soft and natural, so as not to disturb conversations, notes Akin. “They are very satisfied with the results using MM-4s.
The OtoMotion complex also offers a 140-seat conference theatre, equipped with HD video and full 5.1 surround capability. The theatre has been installed with UPJ-1P compact VariOâ„¢ loudspeakers and USW-1P subwoofers, as well as MM-4 loudspeakers for surround effect.
More Meyer Sound products, including M1D-Sub subwoofers and HD-1 studio monitors, are also installed alongside video screens in conference rooms and sales areas, as well as in the VIP lounge and the production suite. Galileoâ„¢ loudspeaker management system handles signal processing and drive for all subsystems; a Matrix3â„¢ audio show control system is available as needed for automated presentations and special effects.
OtoMotion is part of Dogus Holdings AS, one of Turkey’s largest corporate conglomerates with interests in banking, construction, and tourism. “OtoMotion reflects the prestige of the company, says Akin. “The owners demanded the very best equipment, so Meyer Sound is the perfect choice.
