Rimage Partners with Digital Rapids for Powerful DVD Production Workflow

Rimage Corporation (Nasdaq: RIMG), the industry-leading provider of on-demand digital publishing systems, and Digital Rapids – the developer of market-leading, scalable solutions for content management, encoding, transcoding, protection, and delivery – have partnered to integrate their acclaimed solutions into an automated workflow for DVD encoding and production.

The partnership will help strengthen Rimage product availability and recognition among video and media solution providers and continues the company’s strategic penetration of the digital media post production market.

“This new integration bridges a workflow gap between top-quality encoding for DVD and multi-unit disc publishing, streamlining the process and enabling another level of automation,? said Brick Eksten, president of Digital Rapids Corporation. “We‘re pleased to be working with Rimage to bring this increased efficiency to our mutual customers.?

Within an automated encoding workflow enabled by Digital Rapids’ StreamZ™, StreamZHD™ media encoding systems or Transcode Manager™ enterprise-level transcoding software, DVDs can be produced from a single media file without menus, or from multiple deck-captured media files with an automatically generated menu and chapter marks.

Upon completion of encoding, the resulting media is automatically sent to an attached Rimage Producer III or Rimage Professional Series digital publishing system with automated disc artwork printing. The combined solution is ideal for DVD publishing applications, ranging from approval and prescreening copies of production content to limited-run distribution and archive.

“We are very excited about the level of productivity that is gained by the seamless integration of the Digital Rapids workflow into the Rimage disc publishing platform,? said Manny Almeida, executive vice president of sales and marketing for Rimage. ?From post production studios to conversion and duplication specialists, our customers will benefit from the greater productivity, reduced effort and increased encoding and publishing efficiency of this powerful pairing of market-leading solutions,? Almeida said.

Both the Rimage Producer III and Professional Series systems support the new workflow integration with Digital Rapids .The Rimage Producer III disc publishing system is the industry’s highest-performing, most reliable solution for automatically creating professional DVDs with customized digital content and direct-to-disc labels. The Rimage Professional Series disc publishing systems help a wide range of media production and post production facilities streamline their content distribution workflows with all-in-one solutions for archiving, duplicating and distributing physical digital content.

Digital Rapids’ StreamZ and StreamZHD media encoding solutions combine powerful hardware for video and audio capture and pre-processing with the comprehensive Stream software interface, delivering high-quality, multi-format media encoding for demanding professional applications. Digital Rapids Transcode Manager provides automated, distributed transcoding with centralized management and exceptional load balancing intelligence for high-volume, multi-format transcoding workflows.

The new integration support will be available in a new version of Digital Rapids’ StreamPro™ and StreamEnterprise™ software.

Rimage and Digital Rapids will showcase their complete product lines in adjacent booths # SL8728 (Rimage) and #SL8724 (Digital Rapids) at the NAB Show 2008 in Las Vegas, April 14-17.
