Experience the Real Presence

geogetown-1_2.jpgExperience the Real Presence
With the first Polycom® RealPresenceTM Experience High Definition (RPXTMHD)
16 April 2008, Georgetown University SFS-Qatar, LAS Building, Education City, Doha
Techno Q, Polycom’s certified reseller in Qatar, provided Videoconference solutions for the last five years to Education, Corporate, Health Care and Government Institutions in Qatar. But the most recent project developed for the Georgetown University Campus in Doha outclasses all of them. The system, which uses Polycom® RealPresenceTM Experience High Definition (RPXTM HD) technology, provides an uncluttered, welcoming immersive suite in which to have a productive meeting. The Polycom RPXTM HD removes the cameras, microphones, speakers, remote controls and other technology from the user’s view so there are absolutely no distractions. Thanks to the high-definition video provided by the twin-lens camera and audio from small microphones placed strategically all over the room, the two are able to make eye contact and hold a conversation as if they were in the same room.
Mr Zeyad Al Jaidah, Techno Q Managing Director said “Techno Q team is particularly proud of having contributed to the deployment of the first Polycom RPXTM HD solution in the Middle East. “We are sure that today our guests, today, will be amazed by the real presence experience. It has been successfully developed for one of the major education institutions in our country, we know that other organizations would greatly benefit from it.?

The Global Classroom initiative, led by James Reardon-Anderson, dean of the School of Foreign Service in Qatar, is designed to help provide a consistent learning experience between the campuses, delivering undergraduate courses to and from Washington. “The point of the global classroom is to enable students and teachers in separate locations – in this case Doha and Washington – to experience learning as if they were in the same room,? Reardon-Anderson said. “This gives students from different countries and cultures an opportunity to talk directly to one another, and it weaves together the two Georgetown campuses in ways that have not been possible in the past.?

Mr K.S. Parag, FVC Managing Director underlines, “The flexible nature of this technology makes it ideal for a broad range of industries and interactive applications. We look forward to seeing a wider application of this solution in the region.? It can be successfully applied in the healthcare environments, to improve real-time interactive communications, enabling specialists to evaluate and diagnose illness avoiding patients’ long distance trips, or giving the staff the opportunity to attend seminars cutting overseas travel costs and allowing the young patients to follow their studies, with video connections from the hospital campus to schools. Oil & Gas and Government agencies have constant need for a fast, direct and transparent communications between different locations, in the country, on the offshore rigs and for overseas sites. There is a real need for high quality video communications from day-to-day to emergency response cases, enabling multi-point video connections for quick decision-making.
