A virtual press conference from Sound & Video Contractor

April 22, 2008 – HAUPPAUGE, NEW YORK – Electrograph Systems, Inc., the leading national distributor of display technology products and services, is helping resellers expand their flat panel sales and profit potential with the availability of Sony’s IPELA line of videoconferencing systems, including the new Sony PCS-XG80, the industry’s first 1080i HD videoconferencing system. A PCS-XG80 training session will take place during Electrograph’s next Display Technology Experience (DTE) reseller event scheduled in Chicago on May 22.

“With the high cost of business travel – from the standpoint of both productivity and expenses – more of our reseller partners are installing videoconferencing systems as an affordable alternative for their customers,? said Sam Taylor, president of Electrograph Systems, Inc. “This trend, combined with the generous boost in sales and margin that can result from adding one of Sony’s videoconferencing systems to a flat panel sale, is a winning situation for our resellers.?

“We specifically chose to distribute Sony videoconferencing systems through Electrograph because of the strong synergy between our customers and products,? explained Dave Petricig, director of channel sales for Spire Global, Sony’s U.S. sales, marketing and support arm for Sony’s IPELA line. “Since all videoconferencing systems have to connect to a display, we couldn’t think of a better partner than the nation’s leading display technology distributor.?

Next month at Electrograph’s DTE event, Spire Global’s Petricig will lead a training session on the PCS-XG80 to demonstrate how it complements existing LCD and plasma sales opportunities. “Reseller veterans and rookies alike can benefit from seeing this new system in action and learning more about how Electrograph and Spire Global can help grow this part of their business,? added Petricig.

Sony’s PCS-XG80 Sets the Standard Announced in January, Sony’s new PCS-XG80 sets the standard for HD videoconferencing as the industry’s first 1080i HD system. Combined with a high frame rate of 60 fields per second, the new system delivers superb live video quality and a very natural alternative to face-to-face meetings, making it ideal for business environments, healthcare institutions, education establishments and government bodies.

From PowerPoint® and animations to live DVDs, users can also easily share PC data in HD at 30 frames per second. The dual stream functionality of the new system lets users send two separate parallel streams of live HD information. With six-site multipoint conferencing, users can call up to five other remote sites to simultaneously meet, with multi-language support for 20 different languages through easy-to-navigate menus. Wideband stereo audio provides crisp and clear sound to further enhance the overall meeting experience.

About Electrograph’s DTE Now in its fourth year, Electrograph’s DTE program continues to make its way to resellers around the nation, providing endless training and education opportunities, including NSCA learning and CEDIA continuing education credits, along with networking, new product viewings and more, all absolutely free of charge.

Coming to Navy Pier next month, DTE Chicago features an energizing list of business building and technical content that both commercial and residential resellers can immediately put to use. New technologies highlighted at DTE Chicago include the latest in plasma and LCD flat panel displays, home cinema projectors, touch panels, consumer DVDs, mounts and stands, video processors, amplifiers and receivers, wire and cable, video interfaces and more.
