SHURE HITS A HIGH NOTE AT VIÑA DEL MAR
Miguel Bosé Charms Crowd at International Song Festival
VINA DEL MAR, CHILE, April 30, 2008 — Widely considered to be the most important music event in Latin America, the Viña del Mar International Song Festival drew capacity crowds this year to the Quinta Vergara Amphitheatre to hear dozens of performers, including Shure endorser Miguel Bosé. Marking three decades as a popular entertainer at this, the 49th annual engagement of the festival, Bosé took to the stage using a UHF-R Wireless System (UR2/Beta 58) delivered to the site by Amexco, the Shure Distributor in Chile.
One of many performers relying upon Shure products at the event, Bosé was joined onstage by a legion of other crowd favorites, including Calle 13 (UR2/SM58®), Marco Antonio Solis (UR2/KSM9), Chayanne (UR2/KSM9), and Peter Frampton (SM58 wired).
Televised live, by Santiago, Chile based Canal 13, the festival chose Shure microphones based upon its need for rock-solid reliability and acoustic quality.
“The festival required the use of more than 50 wireless channels, including microphones, in-ear monitor systems and intercom systems,” said Roberto Herzberg, Chief Audio Engineer for Canal 13. “The amount of wireless systems exhausted all available frequencies, but Shure helped us organize the frequency chaos using Wireless Workbench 5.0, which also helped us monitor the microphone audio levels, battery status, monitor the RF noise floor and measure RF signal strength at each antenna.”
José Rivas, Shure’s Director of Marketing and Sales, International Americas, and Gabe Benitez, Regional Portfolio Manager, assisted Amexco with the systems and helped Canal 13 coordinate RF for the broadcast.
“The six nights of the festival were really quite magical,” Benitez said shortly after the stage was struck and thoughts were already being given to the 50th anniversary shows next year. “Given the amount of wireless required for the event, there was no guarantee that this would be the case at the outset, but fortunately we had the Shure products and talent to make sure that everything was perfect.”
