Capitol Sales Company Carries Tivax Analog Converter Boxes
ST. PAUL, Minn., May 9, 2008—Capitol Sales Company is now making it easier for consumers who don’t want to give up their analog TV sets after the analog-to-digital cutover in mid-February 2009. By stocking and distributing Tivax converter boxes, Capitol Sales installers can help homeowners keep their existing analog TV sets. This solution minimizes the expense of purchasing a new digital-format TV. According to the Federal Communication Commission (FCC), about 15.5 million U.S. households currently watch over-the-air TV programming on analog sets.
Developed by Michley Electronics in Silicone Valley, the Tivax digital receiver supports 18 different ATSC digital television formats. It meets the National Telecommunications and Infrastructure Administration (NTIA) requirements for Coupon Eligible Converter Boxes (CECB), qualifying for a $40 coupon that consumers can apply toward the cost of the unit. And, the Tivax unit exceeds ENERGY STAR® requirements, a program designed to help consumers save money and protect the environment through the use of energy efficient products.
“We recognize that not all homeowners will be upgrading every TV throughout their home to high definition, so we’re providing a simple, cost-effective solution for our dealers to meet this need, said Curt Hayes, Capitol Sales Company’s President and Chief Financial Officer.
The Tivax STB-T9 converter box features simple controls, and enables new and old TVs to display a clear digital picture. The unit can be plugged into the existing antenna or Michley’s remote control indoor antenna. And, it can be used in combination with a cable or satellite box.
“We’re very happy to be partnering with Capitol Sales, a leading distributor of consumer electronics, to meet this consumer need with an affordable quality converter box, said, Victor Yu, Vice President of Sales at Michley Electronics.
