grandMA Accompanies The Jonas Brothers On Their Look Me In The Eyes Tour

JonasTheir screaming fans didn’t know it but the hot pop-rock band The Jonas Brothers took grandMA along on their most recent tour. A.C.T. Lighting is the exclusive distributor of the grandMA in North America.

The teen sensations kicked off their Look Me In The Eyes tour on January 31 in Tucson; it concluded March 22. They will be back in the spotlight with the Burning Up summer tour, which commences July 4 in Toronto.

“The Jonas Brothers’ Look Me In The Eyes tour started as a theater tour then blew up and became a sold-out arena tour,? notes John LaBriola who served as the tour’s lighting director and programmer as well as lighting, set and video designer. “Initially there was going to be a modest amount video and LEDs and not many other lights, then the show got bigger and added movers and additional LED panels. The goal was to make it video-heavy with a big, industrial look. When you look at the stage the main thing you see is the LED walls.?

LaBriola tapped two grandMAs for lighting and video control and three grandMA video servers. “The integration of video into the console was ridiculously simple,? he reports.

LabBriola used a completely automated lighting rig with 40 moving lights. He also deployed Toshiba LEDs and 24mm mesh.

“The grandMA was great at controlling everything,? says LaBriola. “I love it. I used to be committed to other consoles but was turned on to the grandMA for the Backstreet Boys tour. Ever since then, using the grandMA has been a religion for me. I continue to learn new great things and they keep adding great stuff. And now with grandMA controlling the video, it’s just that much better!?

“John learned how to use grandMA three years ago and grandMA video very recently. He is a fast learner and I hear that the results are spectacular. I look forward to seeing the show and enjoying John’s work and artistic vision,” commented A.C.T Lighting President and CEO Bob Gordon.
