Wohler Products on Display at InfoComm 2008:

At InfoComm 2008, Wohler will be showing a variety of new and existing product offerings as well as a sneak peak of Atlas, the broadcast industry’s first multi-touch command platform.

Touch-it™ Digital Multichannel Video Monitor
Wohler’s new Touch-it™ Digital offers unique multichannel video monitoring functionality in a smart, affordable design. The 3RU system features dual 7-inch high-resolution color LCD displays. The left monitor is a touch screen that displays from four to 16 thumbnail images. When one of these images is touched, that video source appears on the right monitor at full size and its HD/SD-SDI source signal is sent to an unbalanced output and to a VGA output for monitoring on an external display. The Touch-it Digital accepts and switches eight standard SD-SDI video inputs, passing along any embedded audio. When combined with a Wohler E-Frame, closed captioning, and logo keyer E-Cards, the Touch-it Digital serves as an elegant and cost-effective master control system.

Touch-Comm — Multiview System
The result of a strategic business partnership between Wohler Technologies Inc. and Intracom Systems LLC, Touch-Comm represents the latest product from the Touch-it line. Touch-Comm is a touch screen multiview system in which the left 7-inch touch screen provides 12-channel multiview capability for composite analog video, with the selected video feed routed to an external system. The 7-inch LCD display on the unit’s right side, also a touch screen, allows operators to interface visually with an IP-based intercom system; Touch-Comm users anywhere in the world can thus communicate with each other instantly. Touch-Comm is highly interoperable with other communications systems including digital matrix systems, two-way radios, and phone networks. The all-touch screen interface provides simple operation with minimal distraction and is intended for a wide range of surveillance, public service, video production, and emergency command environments. The newly announced Touch-Comm unit will be available either with an integrated microphone or a headset jack.

HDMon Family of High Definition Monitors
Wohler’s family of high definition color video monitor displays, the HDMon series, enables high-quality monitoring of digital HD-SDI, SD-SDI, or DVI signals; analog composite, component, and RGBHV video; and CGI images up to WUXGA resolution. Though the HDMon series is designed primarily for 1080-line HD applications, each monitor provides exceptional noise reduction, motion interpolation, and motion-adaptive processing to ensure crisp, clear display of images, regardless of their native resolution.

Current HDMon models include the HDMon-170, HDMon-92WS, HDMon-190, HDMon-260, and HDMon-240. Operating either as a desktop monitor or installed in a 19-inch-wide rack, these LCD displays offer HD resolution, a choice of 4:3 or 16:9 aspect ratios, user-adjustable scaling, and up to 170 degrees of perfect off-axis viewing without the image and color distortions normally associated with LCD displays. A sleek, lightweight design allows HDMon displays to convert from portable to tabletop solutions without the need for additional hardware. Built-in 100Base T Ethernet and RS232 connections allow the monitors to be configured and controlled remotely via a Windows®-based GUI or by third-party control systems.

RM Series Video Monitors
The RM series of analog video monitors is ideal for confidence audio/video monitoring of multiple audio and video feeds in mobile trucks, news and transmission control rooms, duplication, and post-production applications, offering a choice of two 7-inch, three 5.8-inch, or four 4-inch LCD screens with user-selectable 4:3/16:9 settings. NTSC and PAL autosensing is built into the units, which accept two composite video inputs per screen. A versatile LCD chassis design allows for easy adjustment and optimal operator viewing angles. All but the quad-screen system feature widescreen displays. These cost-effective monitoring systems can be deployed with optional field-installable modules. The addition of one module per LCD provides an SDI video input channel with a reclocked SDI video output and a converted composite video output. An optional field-installable audio indication module can be plugged into the tally system to support audio confidence monitoring. Red/green/yellow tally lights from the monitors’ rear panel can be interfaced to most tally systems.

AMP2-E8MDA Multiformat Audio Monitor
The AMP2-E8MDA multiformat audio monitor processes and monitors up to eight channels from a Dolby® E or AC-3 (Dolby Digital) bit stream, an HD-SDI or SD-SDI bit stream, two sets of four AES/EBU signal pairs (balanced and unbalanced), or eight balanced analog channels. Eight high-resolution 53-segment tricolor LED bar graph audio-level meters provide instant and accurate level monitoring at a glance. A convenient high-contrast LCD display on the front panel shows the user settings and status, type of signal, channel selection, mute status, and phase/correlation. The unique acoustic design of the AMP2-E8MDA provides optimally focused sound in an ultra-near-field (1 to 3 feet) environment, which allows higher SPL for the operator while reducing overall ambient sound and adjacent bay crosstalk. The audio amplifier section features five high-performance transducers driven by three power amplifiers. Output limiter circuits protect the speakers, and extensive magnetic shielding allows placement of the monitor immediately adjacent to magnetically sensitive equipment. The 2RU system installs into an industry-standard 19-inch-wide rack.

LM106-6 AC-3 Ultra-High-Resolution Level Monitor
The six-channel LM106-6 in-rack professional level metering system features 106-segment tricolor bar graphs to deliver extremely high resolution and an industry-leading dynamic range up to 70dB in increments as small as 1/2dB across mid-scale. In just 1RU the system decodes and monitors encoded Dolby® Digital (AC-3) audio and also supports monitoring of AES/EBU digital and PCM audio to allow for simultaneous visual monitoring of all channels. Wohler’s unique tricolor LED design enables a virtually unlimited variety of metering options including phase correlation, peak hold, loudness, sum and difference, and alternate scales and color mappings.
