Coemar’s Infinity Wash XLs are the moving heads of choice of Chris Nathan, lighting designer for Colombian-born rock star Juanes’s La Vida World Tour. Inner Circle Distribution (ICD) is the exclusive distributor of Italian-made Coemar lighting in the US.

Juanes, who has sold more than 10 million albums and won 12 Latin Grammy Awards, kicked off his La Vida tour at Madison Square Garden. He will play extensive dates around the world throughout 2008.

Nathan, who also directs Juanes’s show and programs and operates the lights, selected 30 Infinity Wash XLs to “create really big, bright bold looks out in the house — they’re great for that.â€? Ray Winkler designed a sun ray-motif set piece, which backlights the band with moving lights and LED tubes. The Infinity Wash XLs hang in the diagonal wing trusses, one truss extending out over the runway.

“We have a lot of very big venues on the tour,� says Nathan. “The Infinities allow me to get big audience looks, broad big strokes and lighting effects. The upstage portion of the rig has a good amount of washes as well which I use for key lighting and solo highlights; I can get a good narrow beam out of the Infinity and can put light on individuals.�

Coemar’s versatile Infinity Wash XL moving head offers zoom, color and strobe effects, beam shaping, full-range dimming, and a CMY-s color mixing system with patented saturation mode.

“They are very unique lights,� Nathan declares. “They’re not something you’d expect from a wash light. When you combine one of four different effects on a rotating wheel with your zoom you get a really big rotating effect out in the house that seems to come from nowhere. It’s very impressive. Color mixing is also fantastic because of the extra saturation on magenta and cyan. I really like the ballast strobe, too, which allows you to have cool effects that aren’t lost behind a shutter.�

Nathan reports that the Infinity Wash XLs have performed well during the ongoing LA Vida tour. “I’ve had no issues with them, no glitches at all. I’ve known Gary Mass and the guys at ICD for a long time, and it’s always a pleasure working with them.�
