Gefen’s HDMI over RGB Extension Solution Enables Hi-Def Upgrades without Replacing Cables
InfoComm Booth C1740 — Connectivity solutions provider Gefen unveils its HDMI RGB Extender at InfoComm, using ActiveConnectâ„¢ technology from Gennum Corporation. The sender/receiver system enables current video systems using 5BNC cabling to upgrade both the audio/video source and the display or projector to the expanded HDMI v1.3 format, leaving original conduit cables intact. Hi-def video in resolutions to 1080p with multi-channel audio is transmitted up to 100 meters in distance with zero signal delays or dropouts.
System installation is effortless, requiring the local source to be connected to the sender unit and the remote display or projector to be connected to the receiver unit. Both units are equipped with 5BNC connectors that link directly to the existing cable infrastructure, saving money on cable costs while streamlining the installation procedure. To guarantee an instant delivery of hi-def video, both sender and receiver are powered.
“Gennum continues to work with Gefen to deliver connectivity solutions that provide the higher resolutions, faster refresh rates, and deep color of HDMI,” said Martin Rofheart, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Analog & Mixed-Signal Products, Gennum Corporation. “Leveraging our ActiveConnect solution, Gefen can offer the custom install market a truly cost-effective solution that delivers HDMI 1.3 performance up to 100 meters without the
expense of all new cabling.”
The Gefen HDMI over RGB Extender (MSRP $699) is expected to be available for purchase in Q3 2008.
