AMD/MEDIAPOINTE’S NEW VIDi MPEG-2 AND MPEG-4 STREAMERS ANNOUNCED AT INFOCOMM 2008
VIDi Designed for Digital Signage, Education and Enterprise Applications
NEWBURY PARK, Calif. – June 18, 2008 – Advanced Media Design (AMD), developer of the award-winning AV-over-IP collaboration technology MediaPOINTE®, today announced its VIDi2 and VIDi4 blade-based digital video encoders designed to work in conjunction with its VIDi2d and VIDi4d decoders. The VIDi2 encodes in MPEG-2 and the VIDi4 encodes in MPEG-4; the blades can be placed in a two-or seventeen-slot chassis. All of these new products are debuting in booth #C3431 at InfoComm 2008 in Las Vegas, June 18-20, 2008.
MediaPOINTE’s VIDi devices accept video from live television or cable broadcasts, DVD, security cameras or other audio and video sources and stream them up to high-definition video quality. Users simply plug a video source directly into a blade, connect the VIDi to a network and stream in real time; decoders are connected directly to a display and content is selected via handheld IR remote control.
“It’s so easy to use our new VIDi products, said Gareth Wade, vice president, sales and marketing, MediaPOINTE. “The ability to change channels with the hand-held remote control allows users to select the channel they want, and view it on whatever display they want. It is that simple.
There are a wide variety of applications for MediaPOINTE’s VIDi streamers: schools and universities stream DVDs or television broadcasts from one administrative point; retailers stream ever-changing video storewide; businesses broadcast financial reports or presentations, all in full motion video without delays or jitter.
“Our new VIDi devices are an exciting addition to our line, added Wade, “We’re constantly improving our products and are looking forward to show our advanced new VIDi series to our customers at InfoComm.
