Classic & New Madrid Upgrades With Fairlight
Classic & New Madrid has maintained its reputation for technical excellence by installing Fairlight Constellation large-scale digital recording, editing and mixing systems into three of its audio studios.
The facility, which was specifically set up to handle musical production, music and soundtrack creation and sound post-production, installed the new systems as part of a general refurbishment programme. It has also invested in Fairlight’s Crystal Core Engines (CC-1) and integrated Pyxis SD non-linear video systems. This provides the facility with the very latest audio mixing technology, enabling it to offer clients a formidable combination of speed and functionality.
Technical Director Quim Rubà says: “The new Constellations replace Fairlight Prodigy 1 (MFX) systems that were originally installed in 1999. The fact that we have always been very satisfied with Fairlight’s technology is a key reason why we have chosen this upgrade path.
All three studios are being networked via a centralized storage system that allows Classic & New Madrid to easily move and share media between each of the rooms. The new systems are located in Rooms 1 and 4, which are primarily used for advertising projects, and Room 2, which is a Dolby Certified 5.1 dubbing theatre that handles productions destined for the cinema screen.
“This is a major upgrade for the facility and one that allows us to considerably speed up our workflow and accommodate changes in the post production business, Rubà adds.
Fairlight’s Spanish distributor Unitecnic, which handled the sale, initially installed one Constellation system into a demo studio at Classic & New Madrid so that engineers could undergo training. The permanent installations are now underway and will be completed within the next few weeks.
