AURALEX GETS A NEW GIG WITH MUSICIAN/PRODUCER BLUES SARACENO

Blues - IMdeskINDIANAPOLIS, IN – As the industry leader in innovative sound control solutions, Auralex Acoustics, Inc. was the natural choice to rig the home studio of noted guitar player and music producer Blues Saraceno with its state-of-the-art acoustical treatments.

“I have always been known as the guitar guy. As I got older, I really wanted to branch out and focus on composing,? said Blues Saraceno. “It got to the point where I was acquiring so much gear it was time to create a home studio. I made the decision to have a 100% professional top-of-the-line studio in my home. Having a room that is accurate is hard to obtain, especially with mixing. That’s why I focused on acoustics right from the very beginning.?

Saraceno’s home studio is now complete with Auralex’s SheetBlok sound isolation barrier, Mineral Fiber sound insulation, ELITE B22 and C24 ProPanels, LENRDs Corner Bass Traps and 2? and 4? Studiofoam Wedges.

Blues - mo padIn January 2007, Saraceno started building his studio literally from the ground up. Because his home is situated in the Hills, code requirements limited him to an eight-foot deep area to work with. The thicker he made the walls, the less working space he had, which is why he turned to Auralex for its SheetBlok Sound Isolation Barriers. He used ½ inch of standard sheet rock, ⅛ inch of Auralex SheetBlok and another ⅜ inch of standard sheet rock again. Blues complimented this with Auralex’s Mineral Fiber sound insulation products. He also constructed an isolation cabinet in the space, where he once again used Auralex’s SheetBlok, staggered between plywood.

Auralex’s SheetBlok Sound Isolation Barrier is a dense, limp-mass vinyl material that is about 6dB more effective than solid lead at stopping the transmission of sound. It acts as a thin, dense sound barrier layer in walls, ceilings or floors and is most effective when used as one component of a multi-layered construction scheme. SheetBlok helps in decoupling floors and walls. Auralex’s Mineral Fiber sound insulation is the best way to tighten up a room’s sound. It is much denser than standard insulation and is specifically designed for acoustical usage. It yields much better bass trapping, overall absorption, thermal characteristics, moisture absorption and sound transmission loss than any other product on the market.

With the construction phase complete, Blues once again turned to Auralex Acoustics for its best-selling surface treatments for both the main room and the isolation cabinet. He installed Auralex’s ELITE B22 and C24 ProPanels, its LENRDs Corner Bass Traps as well as its 2? and 4? Studiofoam Wedges.

Auralex’s Elite B22 ProPanels are decorative, fabric-covered acoustic absorptive panels designed to absorb slap and flutter echoes, while providing a more pleasing and accurate listening environment. The company’s Elite C24 ProPanels are fabric-wrapped absorptive fiberglass panels that have a 1.05 Noise Reduction Coefficient (NRC), greatly increasing their ability to control lower frequencies. LENRD Bass Traps (Low-End Node Reduction Device) are extremely effective at achieving sound control throughout a given space by smoothing out low frequency room nodes. Auralex’s 2? Studiofoam Wedges effectively kill standing waves and flutter echoes, when used in conjunction with Auralex’s LENRD Bass Traps they can effectively tame the full frequency bandwidth in virtually any room. 4″ Studiofoam Wedges are recommended in rooms with pronounced low frequency problems or where sonic accuracy is mandatory and maximum acoustic absorption is required. 4″ acoustic Studiofoam Wedges can effectively tame even the worst sonic anomalies.

“I was really impressed with how the Studiofoam combined with the LENRDs took the standing noise down instantly, especially in the corners,? continued Saraceno. “Obviously, my primary concern was sound, but the fact that I had so many different color options for the custom panels was a huge selling point. I recently produced a record for Slank, one of Indonesia’s top-selling rock bands. Their record was the first project I did out of the studio. So far the studio is getting a thumb’s up.?

Blues Saraceno received his first record deal at the age of 16 with “Guitar for The Practicing Musician.” He recorded “Never Look Back,” “Plaid” and “Hairpick.? All three instrumental albums sold well over 100,000 copies. He went on to play with Michael Bolton, Taylor Dayne, Cher, and toured the world several times over with Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker of “Cream.” He also recorded “Crack a Smile” with the band POISON. Blues founded the band Transmission OK in 2002, in which he played guitar, sang and wrote the songs.

Blues has currently been working on a number of television shows for various networks, films and commercials both in the U.S and internationally. His recent works include the title theme for “The Dead Zone? on the USA Network and two songs for Director Scott Cann for his upcoming movie “DALLAS 362.? He also has been producing and recording for various commercial catalogs, music library companies and other artists, such as FREDALBA, a Los Angeles-based band founded by Eric Balfour from “Six Feet Under,” “24″ and “Texas Chainsaw Massacre.?
