Updated: CSI CEO Fiber for A/V InfoComm Seminar a Success!
Hauppauge, NY – John Lopinto, President & CEO of Communications Specialties, Inc. and a member of Infocomm Academy’s Adjunct Faculty presented a seminar – Implementing Fiber Optic Distribution for AV in IT Environments – at InfoComm 2008.
Intended for both AV and IT system designers and integrators, the seminar was presented from the point of view of each (AV and IT) discipline. Following an in depth discussion of each discipline’s concerns when using fiber optics, the focus shifted to the technical specifications involved in using Fiber as a transport medium. The course objective brought together three elements: Fiber technology, AV applications, and IT infrastructure management.
For the benefit of the IT professional, the course addresses the unique technical requirements of AV systems for the distribution of video, audio, and control (data and IP), and how those systems impact the fiber infrastructure they may likely control.
For the benefit of the AV professional, the course outlined the important elements of a fiber optic system and how it needs to be specified to the IT departments, who controls the infrastructure and who will implement much of the early contracting and construction.
