EVERYTHING IS FINE WITH JOSH TURNER
EVERYTHING IS FINE WITH JOSH TURNER
One of Country Music’s Rising Stars Is On Tour With Shure PSM® and UHF-R® Wireless
NASHVILLE, TN, July 31, 2008 — Ever since signing with MCA Nashville in 2003, Josh Turner has known only one way: up. Beginning with the single “Long Black Train,” his neo-traditionalist country musings have continued to climb the charts with regularity following the release of his most recent album, Everything is Fine, a disc that has produced the multi-week #2 hit, “Firecracker,” and second single, “Another Try,” a duet with Trisha Yearwood.
Turner debuted on the Grand Ole Opry on December 21, 2001, and was inducted into the Opry by Vince Gill on October 27, 2007, three days before the release of Everything is Fine. Touring in support of the album this summer, he relies on Shure UHF-R wireless for his vocals and guitaras well as a Shure PSM personal in-ear monitor system.
“I like to get as close to what you hear on my records as possible,” he says of the mix he listens to through his PSM system. “My vocal should be out front to the extent that I can really hear every little nuance in my voice. I’ve found that helps me sing better in any situation. The rhythm section should be prominent too, but not overbearing. I love hearing all the fills from the steel, fiddle, and guitar.”
Covering a wide range, Turner’s voice is captured on the road with a UHF-R handheld transmitter equipped with a venerable SM58® capsule. Cutting the cord on his guitar was a feat managed by the Shure UR14D Dual Bodypack Wireless System.
“My wireless stuff has been great,” Turner says. “When I first started out, I didn’t have the liberty to use a wireless mic, guitar pack, or an in-ear system. Now that I have these capabilities, it really has elevated my level of performance. I’m not afraid of tripping over cables anymore, and having the in-ears has been great. They block out the ambient noise so I’m never distracted while singing a song or telling a story. It all really helps me concentrate and frees me up in such a great way.”
Turner’s current touring schedule will take him from the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville through the Midwest, Kentucky, Tennessee, North Carolina, and South Carolina before landing at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre in Atlanta on October 18.
