Dial Global Expands Service With Stantron® Pioneer Racks

Radio’s largest full-service independent radio network continues long-standing relationship with Stantron

MAYVILLE, WISCONSIN – September 3, 2008 – Stantron®, a division of Mayville Products Corporation, announces the installation of its Stantron Pioneer Racks at Dial Global’s (DG) radio network facility in Valencia, California. Pioneer racks and accessories were sold through Stantron’s preferred distributor Pacific Radio, located in Burbank, CA. Dial Global specified Stanton’s Pioneer Rack and included Stantron’s rotating PowerOptions® vertical power strips, repositionable magnetic lighting products, and cost saving cooling features.

Dial Global is radio’s largest full-service independent radio network providing programming to radio stations nationwide via satellite link. Owned by Triton Media Group, LLC with offices in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco, Nashville and Valencia, Dial Global provides national advertising sales representation to more than 60 independent producers and syndicates, in addition to Dial Global’s own programming and barter services from its sister company, MJI Interactive.

The new Pioneer racks were integrated into the master control room to accommodate the expansion of Dial Global’s network radio business, to support program distribution and other services for its clients. DG is also in the process of setting up a new receiver system which is due to be on-the-air by January 1st 2009 which will also use Stantron’s feature rich Pioneer Racks.

“We began our relationship with Stantron almost a decade ago with the purchase of fourteen Pioneer racks. Over the years we’ve successfully and consistently maintained our system configuration with Stantron products,? said Larry Wilson, Vice President of Engineering at Dial Global. “So when we expanded our formats in the spring of this year the obvious choice was to purchase four more Pioneer racks.?

Dial Global purchased Stantron PowerOptions vertical power strips with the Pioneer racks – a very appealing feature according to Wilson. “The power strip design increased the versatility of our set up and integration of our rack system. They can be easily removed or relocated and offer the added benefits of digital current monitoring and surge suppression. This helps to maintain our consistency on air.?

DG also added four magnetic mount work lights from Stantron’s LightingOptions range to provide repositionable and portable illumination, and facilitate equipment access and maintenance.

“Visitors have commented and complimented us on our equipment layout in master control. Considering that we have approximately 18 computers, 47 audio encoders, and other associated equipment stored in these racks, we have achieved a very organized master control room,? added Wilson.

DG is the only (West Coast) StarGuide uplink in the area, leaving no room for error or drops in service. The need to be on-the-air consistently 24 hours a day seven days a week pushes equipment reliability to the forefront. Wilson says Stantron’s CoolingOptions such as optional doors and cooling fans help alleviate worry about equipment overheating. DG equipped each rack with four cooling fans on the top and a perforated back door to accommodate equipment cooling. The broadcaster also ordered a four-fan cooling top for one of its older Stantron racks that was easily retrofitted on-site.

“Heat is a major factor when loading up a rack with equipment – so we made sure to take full advantage of Stantron’s recent additions to their rack cooling options. We link our reliability directly to the efficient cooling options available in our Stantron racks.?
