Presidential Debates Look to HME for Needed Change

HME provides wireless solutions for the presidential debates

SAN DIEGO, CA—September 26, 2008— HME was selected as the exclusive provider of wireless intercom and onsite paging solutions at all of the upcoming Presidential Debates which start on September 26th at the University of Mississippi, in Oxford, MS and finish October 15th at Hofstra University, in Hempstead, NY—including the Vice Presidential Debate.

HME was selected because their products offer highly secure communications and are virtually immune from interference in this crowded RF environment. Using a combination of HME’s wireless intercom and onsite paging system will allow the debate organizers to coordinate behind the scenes activities.

“HME is very excited to be involved in such an historic event. It is nice to be a part of something that is so important to all of us. We were very pleased that our pager products are also being included in the event,? stated Mike Hughes, Professional Audio Division VP & General Manager.

The production staff will coordinate behind the scenes activities using HME’s DX200 professional digital audio systems. This wireless communication system will enable staff to be completely mobile, secure, and interference free. The system provides multiple channels to communicate between campaign and event staff. They will be using three DX200 systems and about 24 belt-pacs for stage management coordination. One intercom will be configured for the management crew of the Democratic Party, another intercom configured for the management staff of the Republican Party, and the last intercom will allow the producer to talk to either stage management group without the other group hearing the conversation.

“The DX200’s were used 4 years ago at the 2004 debates and producer, Martin Slutsky, wanted the same system again due to the crystal clear secure communications and flawless performance,?said Larry Estrin, Owner of Best Audio and Director of Audio and Production Communications for the debates. Larry Estrin has been outfitting the debates since 1988 and is working with On Stage Audio as the equipment vendor.

Estrin stated, “HME’s products have always been a big help for me at these debates. They offer unparalleled clarity and security for voice communications.?
