U.S. EMBASSY IN PRAGUE CELEBRATES INDEPENDENCE DAY WITH KLEIN + HUMMEL

prague_1.JPGPRAGUE, CZECH REPUBLIC – OCTOBER 2008: The annual U.S. Independence Day celebration is deeply meaningful to American citizens living abroad. Thus, the U.S. Embassy in Prague, Czech Republic put on an ambitious event for the birthday of the world’s oldest democracy that included barbeque, a marching band, fireworks, and stirring orations. When the Embassy contacted pro audio distributor Panter s.r.o. to obtain sound reinforcement equipment commensurate with the prestige of the event, Panter set them up with a collection of Sennheiser wired and wireless microphones amplified through Klein + Hummel PA speakers.

To keep things simple, Panter gave them two identical loudspeaker systems, one to amplify speeches and one to reinforce the marching band. In each, Klein+ Hummel Pro A 2000 amplifiers fed a Pro X 12/60 full-range loudspeaker and a Pro X Sub L subwoofer. The Pro X 12/60 is a well-balanced three-way system composed of a twelve-inch woofer, a two-inch mid-range, and a one-inch tweeter. The Pro X Sub l features a double fifteen-inch woofer with an extremely long linear voice-coil excursion.

“The main advantage of using a Klein + Hummel PA system is the noticeably better sound quality, including the very high speech intelligibility it delivers,” said Frank Kirschner, the sales director at Klein + Hummel who helped arrange the rental. “Our company is famous for making incomparably truthful studio monitors, and our line of PA loudspeakers is built in the same spirit. While other manufacturers predetermine an overall sound with nonlinear equalization, Klein + Hummel PA systems are flat. Thus, the decision about how the system sounds is made by the sound engineer at the controller and the mixing console.”

prague_2.JPGA collection of Sennheiser wireless and wired mics, including Sennheiser ME 36 shotguns and evolution wireless, provided coverage of the forty-member marching band. “The advantage of using Sennheiser mics is obvious,” said Kirschner. “First, the sound quality of both the wireless and wired mics is pure and truthful. Second, users experience trouble-free wireless performance because the Sennheiser RF technology is well advanced. The stabilization is great, and multiple wireless Sennheiser mics work together with zero crosstalk.”

This year was the third time that the U.S. Embassy in Prague had rented the Sennheiser/ Klein + Hummel system for their Independence Day festivities, and they plan to rent the system again in 2009.
