C-nario Implements Digital Signage Platform in Shanghai Airports

Tel Aviv, Israel, October 16, 2008 – C-nario, a global provider of digital signage software solutions, today announced that it has implemented the company’s digital signage software platform in Pudong and Hongqiao Airports in Shanghai, China. C-nario’s Messenger and Universal Player solutions manage an array of more than 200 displays in both airports. JCDecaux Momentum Shanghai Airport Advertising Company Ltd. operates the displays.

C-nario, through its Singapore office, was selected by JCDecaux Momentum Shanghai Airport Advertising Company Ltd. as the technological platform provider and as the project’s prime contractor, following a rigorous evaluation process, which included reviewing solutions from several digital signage companies. DVI Solutions, a Singapore-based company specializing in audio-visual solutions, services and installations, with offices in Shanghai, was the local subcontractor.

C-nario provided its player systems (hardware and software) for delivering 250 concurrent targeted and synchronized content channels to any number, size, resolution, or arrangement of screens in both airports. So far, C-nario’s solutions manage 209 screens that have already been installed. Displays include MUPI advertising panels, video walls (including a huge 64-screen video wall), and TV screens. MUPI, an acronym for the French term Mobilier Urbain Pour Information (Urban Furniture for Information), is a type of sign about two square meters in size. The digital MUPI installed in Shanghai airports was designed by architect Jean-Michel Wilmotte for JCDecaux.

Content displayed in both airports includes advertising, announcements from the airport authority, and live TV – all in the highest pixel resolution. Some of the MUPI signs are arranged in groups, displaying the same information in a synchronized playback, allowing objects to move from screen to screen, as people move by the screens. C-nario’s platform enables advertisers to upload and approve ads via the Web.

C-nario’s open architecture and smart plug-ins provide good integration with the workflows and processes of JCDecaux Momentum Shanghai Airport Advertising Company Ltd., without code modification. Implementation was carried out in a record time of two months, and included adapting C-nario’s players to the unique structure and arrangement of the various screens, including the ability to withstand the thermal load of various display systems.

“C-nario’s software is an excellent and scalable platform that perfectly meets the outdoor and indoor advertising needs at Shanghai’s airports,? said Thierry Bardoux, General Manager, JCDecaux Momentum Shanghai Airport Advertising Company Ltd. “C-nario’s ability to produce perfect output has met our requirements. Advertisers are highly impressed by the overwhelming impact that the displays have on passengers, as well as by the competitive size of the project, the high-definition visual performance, the exclusive location, and the persuasive network.?

“This project further establishes C-nario as a global leader in digital signage,? said Yael Elstein, C-nario’s VP marketing. “Our smart back-office system meets the needs and preferences of JCDecaux Momentum Shanghai Airport Advertising Company Ltd., helping the advertising sales process, while our smart scheduling engine auto-generates unlimited playlists.?

C-nario Messenger is a complete digital signage display, distribution and management platform for commercial, informational and educational messaging in better-than-broadcast quality playback. The system’s innovative content creation tools easily help to create displays and cut costs. The system enables extensive Web-based access and includes smart plug-ins for seamless integration with external systems and data feeds. C-nario Universal Player is capable of producing up to eight separate content channels from one PC. Therefore, each network node can relate to several display channels.

Pudong International Airport is located in the east of Shanghai. It currently handles an average of over 400 aircraft movements per day, already accounting for approximately 60% of Shanghai’s total aircraft movements.

Hongqiao International Airport is located in Shanghai’s western suburbs, and currently serves mainly domestic flights. The airport accommodates an average of over 300 aircraft movements per day.
