Thomson Grass Valley Infinity™ Series Camera
The Infinity™ Series represents Thomson Grass Valley’s next-generation acquisition, recording, and storage device. Designed to give users greater freedom and flexibility in selecting recording media, video formats, compression codecs, and connectivity, the Infinity Series improves workflow efficiencies in applications ranging from newsgathering, documentaries, and magazine shows to independent videography, field production, and more. TV Magic will showcase the series throughout the 2008 HD Expo.

Flypack Multiformat Production System
TV Magic will showcase a sophisticated new flypack in booth 514 at the 2008 HD Expo. The rugged portable production system integrates a Thomson Grass Valley Indigo™ AV switcher, a Thomson Grass Valley Turbo™ iDDR (Intelligent Digital Disk Recorder), and five widescreen displays within a compact case measuring just 41 inches deep by 25 inches wide and 48 inches tall. The Turbo iDDR is a VTR replacement that features the digital storage, networking, and media-management capabilities of the award-winning Profile® video servers. The Indigo platform controls multiple analog or digital video and audio sources, providing internal conversion, audio mixing, and automated device playback and control functionality. The two systems interoperate smoothly, with their use of the AMP protocol allowing users to find, load, and play clips on the Turbo iDDR from within the Indigo switcher interface.

CellCom® Digital Wireless Intercom Systems from Clear-Com
TV Magic will demonstrate the innovative CellCom® digital wireless intercom systems from Clear-Com. CellCom blends digital matrix technology with a locally distributed wireless “network” that operates license-free in the 1.9-GHz frequency band, free of interference from other wireless products such as PCs, talent microphones, IFB, and in-ear monitors. To this capability, the system adds broad connectivity to party-line and digital matrix intercom systems. CellCom makes beltpack-to-beltpack, beltpack-to-panel, and group communication possible within a wireless system in full duplex.

The CellCom10 base station, which measures 1RU, supports the flow of all wired and wireless communications throughout the locally distributed wireless “network.” As many as 10 wireless beltpacks can be addressed individually by the CellCom10 base station, allowing for simultaneous small-group conversations. Used in conjunction with the Clear-Com Eclipse matrix system and a cellular network of DECT 1.8-GHz to 1.9-GHz Active Antennae located around the production environment, the CellCom50 supports up to 50 wireless beltpacks without the hassles of frequency management or changing channels.

TV Magic Services

Engineering Services and Design
TV Magic offers complete design, renovation, and build-out of facilities including television stations, post-production studios, houses of worship, city council chambers, college and university A/V rooms, and production studios. TV Magic follows a rigorous five-phase system, which is a complete, extensive process consisting of initial design, system drawings, and line item equipment lists that follow on to system installation, proof of performance, and end user system training.

Engineering Consulting
At the forefront of leading-edge technology, TV Magic engineers are able to leverage their expertise in equipment to develop individualized comprehensive systems for client-specific projects. By working in tandem with each customer, the engineers are able to gauge client expectations, customize each system, and meet or exceed clients’ needs. TV Magic engineers’ wealth of experience provides foresight in every project, helping the customer to avoid or minimize costly mistakes. TV Magic can create specifications and documentation for a large bid or design a technical master plan, budget, and schedule for an organization, regardless of size.

System Integration
A project manager is assigned to each system. The project manager tracks expenses and oversees the timelines and milestone deliverables. A great deal of care and detail accompanies every TV Magic installation. Experts prepare, cut, and terminate each cable using a specific cable database that is populated directly from the CAD drawings created by the design engineer. Relying on detailed cut lists and databases, TV Magic installations progress efficiently while workers are on the job site, thus reducing installation time. Once run and terminated, all cables are tested at each end to ensure correct signal quality and flow. Labels identifying source and destination information is a TV Magic standard that simplifies future troubleshooting and allows for easier installation of new devices into the system.

Support Services Group
The Support Services Group (SSG), a department within TV Magic, is dedicated to providing maintenance, repair, and engineering labor services to a broad spectrum of facilities. SSG offers annual maintenance and support contracts to assist facility managers in keeping their systems up and running at one set annual cost. SSG also offers 24-hour call-center services. Customers and facilities that typically benefit from SSG services include worship facilities, broadcast master control rooms, conference rooms, post-production facilities, council chambers, and production studios.
