ALTINEX INTRODUCES DR446-103 HDMI VIDEO OVER 5-COAX TRANSMITTER-RECEIVER

dr446-103_hi.jpgBrea, CA – October 2008… Altinex, recognized globally as a leading manufacturer of Modular AV Signal Management Solutions™, is pleased to introduce the DR446-103 HDMI Video Over 5-Coax Transmitter-Receiver. Designed as the ideal, cost-effective solution to utilize existing RGBHV cabling infrastructure to transmit the latest generation high resolution digital HDMI signals, the Altinex DR446-103 is the perfect digital bridge between legacy coaxial systems and newer HDMI systems. Now, users can upgrade, for example, their existing DVD players to Blu-Ray systems and transmit those output signals over coaxial cable to an upgraded display on the receiving end.

The new DR446-103 consists of 2 devices—a transmitter and receiver. The transmitter converts HDMI to 5-coax cables and the receiver converts the 5-coax signals back to HDMI. The transmitter/receiver combination enables HDMI transmission lengths of 300 ft (91 m) using high quality coaxial cable. Designed for use as an upgrade to the thousands of existing AV systems found in boardrooms, conference rooms, and home theaters that use 5-coax RGBHV projectors or displays, the DR446-103 is the perfect tool that facilitates the existing cables runs to be used to transmit the HDMI signal between newer equipment. This solution is also attractive for rental and staging applications where an HDMI signal needs to be transmitted over long distances using robust coaxial cables.

Easy to set up, the Altinex DR446-103 supports video resolutions from 480i through 1080p and includes HDCP pass-through for content protected sources. The transmitter-receiver combination works with set top boxes, Blu-Ray Discs, and any other HDMI type equipment. The units ship with a power adapter for the transmitter only, as the receiver does not need a power adapter since it gets its power over the coax cable.

Altinex President and CEO Jack Gershfeld commented on the company’s new DR446-103 HDMI Video Over 5-Coax Transmitter-Receiver. “The DR446-103 is the perfect solution for any AV system in need of an upgrade to newer equipment that uses the HDMI connector. By using the DR446-103, the existing RGBHV cable runs can continue to be used—saving integrators the time and headache of running new lines while ultimately saving their clients the associated costs. This is a compact, surface mount solution that is not only a great way to upgrade an existing AV installation, it is also an ideal tool for providers of production services for corporate theater and special events, as HDMI signals can be transmitted over long distances using this system. I’m confident AV professionals will find the DR446-103 to be extremely useful.?

The Altinex DR446-103 HDMI Video Over 5-Coax Transmitter-Receiver carries a MSRP is $395. It is available now.
