Magenta Introduces Mondo III™-SAP Matrix Switch With Addressable, Duplex-Serial Functionality

Mondo III-SAPNew Milford, CT, November 17, 2008 – Magenta Research, the recognized leader in video/audio/serial signal distribution and switching over Cat5/CatX cable and optical fiber, is thrilled to introduce its next-generation Mondo Matrix UTP switch.

Mondo III -SAP adds support for addressable, full-duplex serial—a first for a Magenta switch! This technical hurdle was overcome by the development of Mondo III –SAP output cards, which, when combined with MultiView –SAP receivers, allows users to extend and switch high-definition video, stereo audio and addressable duplex serial to 2,000 feet (610 meters), all on a single cable.

Bi-directional serial communication is useful in digital signage applications where display telemetry and/or metric collection are required, or in circumstances where users want verification that commands are received and implemented by the remote receiver/display. Two-way serial functionality is retained even when MultiView –SAP Receivers are daisy-chained off a Mondo III-SAP output. Daisy chaining is useful for creating zones of displays (all showing the same content) from a single Mondo output.

Additional features introduced with Mondo III-SAP include a front-panel indicator dashboard, dual fans, a replaceable air filter, backlit 2×16 character LCD with 4 push buttons (used for configuration and diagnostic purposes) and a variety of redundancy-driven initiatives, all designed to make installation, switching, maintenance and daily-use easier than ever before.

“The Mondo quickly became a standard for casino, government and commercial A/V switching projects,? stated Magenta Chief Scientist Chris Miller. “With the added application support that Mondo III provides, we expect it will make even further inroads into the switching market.?

If addressable, full-duplex serial functionality (-SAP) is not required, users can opt for standard Mondo output cards to switch video, audio and/or simplex serial signals. All Mondo Matrix switches are built in a modular fashion, in increments of 16 inputs/outputs, from 16×16 to 256×512.

About Magenta Research:

Magenta Research is the industry-recognized leader in the adaptive distribution and switching of video/audio/control signals over CatX cable, DVI over fiber and/or Cat6 and more recently, HDMI over Cat6. For over ten years, Magenta has developed the highest-performance, broadest and most flexible video-over-CatX product line, the MultiView™ Series. The company utilizes proprietary technologies to enable WUXGA/1080p video distribution at 2,000 feet (610m). MultiView Series transmitters, receivers, switchers and distributive systems have been installed in a large variety of A/V applications, especially dynamic signage for retail, airport, fast food, museum, casino, theatre, courtroom and corporate applications. In 2006, Magenta introduced the Mondo Matrix, the first multimedia Cat5 matrix switcher that can be scaled incrementally from 16×16 to 256×512. The Mondo has quickly become the new standard for larger-scale video plus audio and/or serial matrix switching. In 2006, Magenta launched the Infinea DVI Series and an industry-first – unlimited DVI extension over optical fiber and/or Cat6 using digital signal repeaters at 10km of fiber or 600 ft. (183m) of Cat6. Based in Connecticut, USA, Magenta utilizes a network of international distributors, manufacturers’ representatives and resellers to market its enabling technology worldwide.
