Ingenious First-of-Its-Kind Synchro Accessory Appears to ‘Float’ TVs in Mid-Air, Leaving Cabinets and Walls Unaltered

BLOOMFIELD, CT, Nov. 24, 2008 — Salamander Designs, Ltd., a leading designer and manufacturer of modern furniture, seating and mounting products for Home Theater and A/V entertainment systems, introduces the Synchro Furniture Mate, an ingenious, floor-standing, swivel-equipped mounting solution to pairing LCD and Plasma TVs with cabinets by Salamander Designs or other brands.
The newest in Salamander’s Synchro line of accessories, Furniture Mate provides a unique no-hassle mounting solution — the first of its kind — for integrating cabinets with flat-panel TVs. Simple, sturdy, movable, it’s ideal for consumers who don’t want to mount the TV directly onto the wall or set it atop a cabinet. It maintains a look that’s almost like wall mounting, in which the TV appears to float above a cabinet into which it’s been integrated. Yet, the TV remains free-standing and leaves both wall and cabinet untouched and unaltered. There’s no other solution quite like it.

Furniture Mate’s unique fork-like base, designed to work around cabinet feet, mates behind most cabinets for a fully integrated appearance. A strong steel column supports sets up to 60 inches in size, weighing up to 110 lbs. Additional features include a removable column cover that reveals room for managing and concealing cables, and power conditioners. A motorized, remote-controlled power upgrade makes setting and adjusting optimal viewing preferences especially easy. A Vertical Extension Kit is available for tall cabinets, increasing clearance below the TV, and a manual swivel mechanism lets viewers easily adjust the angle of the screen by 30 degrees, left to right.

Furniture Mate can be installed with or without the assistance of a custom installer, and moved easily if a room’s furniture layout changes. It provides 26 to 36 inches clearance from the floor to the bottom of the TV for screens 32 to 60 inches in size, and 31 inches of clearance for most 50-inch flat-panel TVs. The optional Vertical Extension Kit, for TVs 46 to 60 inches in size, achieves a clearance up to 36 inches from the floor to the bottom of the TV.

The Synchro Furniture Mate is available now in a black finish from authorized Salamander Designs dealers at a suggested price of $599, with $299 for the optional Motorized Kit and $59 for the optional Vertical Extension Kit.
