Christie Returns For The 60th Prime Time Emmy Awards

EmmysMaking a stellar grand appearance at the 60th prime time Emmy Awards, American Hi Definition, Inc. powered the stage with the Christie Roadster 3-chip DLP(r) projectors and the Christie Vista Spyder for the star-studded event. Nearly a month away from celebrating its first birthday, the NOKIA Theatre L.A. LIVE played host to the prestigious TV awards gala, charting a milestone on its diamond anniversary.

A total of 15 HD images flanked the theatre -5 images were projected, 4 were LED displays and 6 were plasma flat-panel displays. A 53- ft. HD Cobalt Truck, provided by Sweetwater Digital Productions, interfaced with Stimulated Inc.’s 8 x 32 ft. custom production trailer. The latter served as the screens control room and housed the 30-layer Vista Spyder, which fed all of the video sources.

Above the stage there were five screens showing 13 1/2 x 24-ft. projected images. Each screen had a Christie Roadster S+16K and Christie Roadster S+20K overlay, with five 720p feeds tethered respectively. They showed nomination packages from a wide shot and then focused on the five nominees.

An LED display situated upstage created scenic backgrounds to compliment graphics, nomination categories and live feeds. The Christie Roadster HD18K projectors displayed support footage, while various plasma displays supplied scenic elements.

What stood out most was the unleashed power, brilliance, clarity and prime-quality images of the Christie projectors and Vista Sypders.

American Hi Definition’s Erez Ram truly believes in the Christie Roadster projectors used for the 60th prime time Emmy Awards: “They always perform very well for us. We made the right decision to go with them.”

Stimulated, Inc.’s team of designers created original content for the show. Robb Wagner, owner/founder of Stimulated, Inc. and screen producer/director for the Emmy’s added: “This is the biggest all-HD show we’ve done. Greg Byrnes of High Resolution Engineering came in to provide technical assistance and was instrumental. We built the control room together in Stimulated’s office, packed it up and put it in the field.”

It’s certain that with their reputation for precision-excellence, Christie’s high quality products make the winning difference: “With our setup,” states Wagner, “the executive producer was very happy and the TV Academy president was thrilled!”

The versatile Vista Spyder offers control and flexibility in every situation. It adapts perfectly to widescreen (edge-blended), single and multi-screen applications. With up to 6.5-million-pixel display capacity from a single frame, it provides multiple outputs from the same box and up to 2048 x 1200 resolution on each output.

The Christie Roadster series of 3-chip DLP projectors are purpose-built to fly, rig, stack and ship for the world of rental/staging. This year marks the fourth consecutive time the Roadsters have been used for the Emmy’s.
