Furman’s Power Management Solutions Chosen for New IGT Facility in Las Vegas

PETALUMA, Calif. — Dec. 09, 2008 — Furman, a world-leading provider of power management solutions, today announced that its AC-215 and Elite-15 i have been chosen by leading installer R2W to protect and optimize the performance of A/V components in the new Las Vegas facility for International Game Technology (NYSE: IGT), a designer and manufacturer of computerized gaming machines.

R2W is a Las Vegas-based contractor and integrator specializing in low-voltage cabling in telephone and computer systems, home theaters, and digital signage. R2W was brought in after the cabling was completed in the IGT facility, and is currently installing A/V systems for the entire building, which includes 65 conference rooms. The high-end systems feature plasma and LCD displays, projectors, Crestron control systems, and video routing.

“In any A/V installation, power management is extremely important for the protection and optimized performance of components. In Las Vegas, where power irregularities such as spikes and brown-outs occur frequently, it is imperative, especially in the newer parts of town where this facility is located,” said Shaun McClure, director of engineering for R2W. “We utilize Furman products because they provide superior power management technologies at a reasonable price point. The protection is second to none, and the audio and video quality is pristine. If you put two displays side by side, one with an AC-215 and one without, the difference is immediately apparent.”

To provide protection and ensure the best A/V quality from components, R2W is utilizing 89 Furman AC-215s for displays and projectors, and 46 Elite-15 i power management systems for equipment racks. Measuring only 1.75 inches x 5 inches x 8.5 inches, Furman’s compact AC-215 is ideal for mounting on the back of flat-screen displays, next to a projector, or in any application where discreetly located, remote power purification and protection are needed. The rackmountable Elite-15 i offers 12-volt triggering to automate system power on/power off and retractable front panel LED lamps that allow easy viewing of either a rack or cabinet full of equipment.

Both solutions feature Linear Filtering Technology (LiFT) for unequaled audio and video clarity, Series Multi-Stage Protection (SMP) for the highest level of surge protection available, and automatic Extreme Voltage Shutdown (EVS) to protect connected equipment from dangerous overvoltage conditions.

“We began the installation in January 2008, and are scheduled to complete it by November,” added McClure. “A few areas of the facility are finished and in use, such as the demo room. The performance of the systems in these areas has been everything we’d expected. There have been no problems due to power irregularities and the client is very satisfied with the A/V quality.”
