ONELAN Go Interactive

ONELAN LogoV6.2 Release Brings Touch Interactivity

ONELAN, Digital Signage specialist, launches its latest software release including new features ensuring greater interactivity and connectivity at an affordable price. As the boundaries between kiosk and digital signage solutions become blurred, the Net-Top-Box (NTB) can become in effect a kiosk portal, opening up a diverse range of new interactive applications.

V6.2 of the NTB software now comes with an option to allow Touch Interactivity granting users access to content relevant to their interest. The NTB allows a screen to be divided into multiple Zones and each Zone can have an independent playlist with Touch Interactivity. This permits part of the screen to be dedicated to a specific item of interest, such as an interactive shopping directory or Wayfinder.

With ONELAN’s new offering, interactivity doesn’t stop at touch direct screens. The GPIO (General Purpose Input Output) capability provides the facility to direct playout by using external device inputs, including infra-red motion detectors, switches, buttons or even external systems such as SCADA and building control systems. By programming the playlist, external events or ‘trigger’ signals, can be used to stop, start or change on-screen information.

The possibilities for customisation are endless: Emergency Fire Exit information can be displayed automatically on screens if an alarm is activated; a welcome message initiated when someone enters a foyer; a sales display that senses a customer approaching and changes from a poster for viewing at a distance to an interactive content display.

Another new optional feature is the Video Streaming Licence. This allows one NTB, which is connected to a TV aerial, to stream a single TV Station across the network to other NTBs that are not connected to the aerial. The feature is particularly useful for Education networks or smaller Corporate networks where multiple TV stations do not need to be viewed simultaneously, and importantly offers significant cost savings.

“Given ever increasing user desire for relevant content and levels of interactivity, we believe dynamic, media-rich, user-tailored content will become a ‘must have’ component for future digital signage specifiers; driving innovative new applications and fuelling industry growth, says Hugh Coghill-Smith, ONELAN Sales and Marketing Director.
